2018 International new purchase converter and battery questions
I'm buying a 25' international moving over from an interstate and am looking to start with an improved electrical scenario. Looking for comments from the power gurus here about swapping out the included converter and inverter with a 3000W magnum hybrid to get the merits of hybrid, higher wattage and multi-stage charging. Planning to install 200W solar with victron 100/30 controller and replacing batts with 2 6v AGM.
Has anyone ever ordered from Airstream with a delete of the included batteries, charger and/or converter? Anyone know if the included charger is multi-stage and worth a hoot? I keep my AI plugged in to shore while not in use which it comes prepared for with the magnum included in it, and want to avoid destroying the batteries in the trailer and needing to do much with respect to battery maintenance.
The 2018s are supposed to include new converters and electrical systems, although there hasn't been much posted so far as to what that exactly means. You may want to wait a little bit to see what the changes are going to be before deciding on what you will need to change.
It is sort of interesting that people are taking delivery of 2018's and there is no real information about what they are buying.
I wonder if Colonial would mind somebody completely dis-assembling the entire electrical system on the 2018 or their lot .... probably best to check out reviews on the Lakewood NJ jail first . I suppose you *could* just go buy one to find out.
I have to go along with Uncle_Bob.... come on Airstream publish some detailed info about the 2018's and their new components on your web site. I can't believe their web site still only lists 2017 models.
I have a 2018 International Serenity scheduled for delivery in August and would like to know more details about the new multi-stage charger.
2018 International new purchase converter and battery questions
I am picking up a new 2017 30' international from colonial on Friday. When I asked what was new with 2018 Patrick told me the only change was that the parallax converter/charger is being replaced with a better 4-stage charger. That was the only change for the international 30'.
There is a pretty hefty price increase on 2018s (call it inflation). I chose that a $150 charger was not worth ordering a 2018 at ~$5k cost increase so I bought a new 2017 off the lot instead. Worked out great.

Hi
We pick up the 2017 from him on Monday. We got a similar story. The Classic got some mux updates and a nice hot water change as well. Even with full details on some super multi stage charger, I would have waited until fall for a new one and paid the "tax" for waiting.
Are the "updates" on the 2018's worth the pricing over a 2017 model? There seems to be very little in actual change but I want to read some other info before I proceed.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance!
I asked for a delete of the television in the lounge area and was told that there would be a $500 change fee. So, now I have a spare tv sitting at home.
