ZAMP Portable Panel Connected to AS via the 7way TV Cable?

Has anyone here found an appropriate 7way to ZAMP portable solar panel adapter to feed the charge to their Airstream via the tow vehicle umbilical cable?

Welcome Aboard!! 🥂👍

Yes...that's how I've been doing it for years..🤓

Purchase a 7way female plug and wire the Zamp into the charge wire. 👍

I've never had a problem...I just wire the pos from the Zamp to the pos on the connector.

It's best to confirm pos with a test light on the male plug....pos charge from the Zamp goes directly to the AS batteries...same as if it was the charge wire from the TV...one wire.

Bob for supreme leader. Portable panels are on my list, this makes it easier.

I be letric, challenged, if I got thru it anyone can.
I understand now that Zamp does wire the SAE connectors differently...was ignorant of that fact just and did what I normally do... used my test light to confirm polarity.

We were told no 7 pin adaptation from Zamp. Go Solar has them for their system

If your clever you could follow the wiring schematics make up a connector

What are I missing?

I only needed a 7pin female into two pin SAE into the two pin Zamp SAE.

From what I understand.....ZAMP reverses the male and female SAE connectors in order to protect the otherwise protruding male. In other words the male becomes the recessed female and polarity is reversed.

I ordered a set of polarity reverse adapter connectors so that I can use the GoPower 7pin adapter setup.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And a second type, just in case.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Make sure that what you order is rated at a high enough amperage for your particular panel.

Thanks...that makes it easier for sure.
I was not aware of the Zamp reversal...I just did what my test light said.

I just listen to the voices in my head--they have more interesting ideas...than Rice Krispies do...

Too bad nobody sells the "Chocolate frosted sugar bombs" from the Calvin and Hobbs comic strip...

Rich,
After posting I had to make sure Snap, Crackle and Pop were still viable.
Bosco, Postum anyone?😂

Sigh. Bosco I kinda recognized, but I had to look up Postum.

Never consumed either as a kid or adult. In fact, my shipmates in the Navy thought I was a total heretic because I never, ever drank coffee of any sort--still don't. I'm a tea drinker, "Tea, Earl Grey, Hot," or if the replicator is down (as usual), plain old Lipton, two bags in a stainless steel insulated cup, pretty much all day long with no cream or sugar needed ever.

As a kid, my breakfast drink/meal of choice was a glass of chocolate flavored Carnation Instant Breakfast. Was just good enough nutrition to keep my dear dad from violently insisting I had to have a bowl of cereal (wet, shredded over-sweetened newspaper), Oatmeal (Oh lord, the horrid lumps and total lack of any real flavor) or some other awful cooked starchy, flavorless cereal product as part of breakfast.

Since my dear mother would not actually ever cook a real breakfast, that was the rotten situation I faced every morning.

To this day, I figure breakfast is an important meal, but only if consumed at the reasonable hour of 0800-0900, once I have recovered sufficiently from my current workplace morning commute of some 71.5 miles one way. Can you tell I'm NOT a morning person?

7 way to zamp

The simple way would be adapt the Zamp cable with Male spade connectors to plug into connector individually. You'd have to meter out the 12vdc positive and negative. Also may want to fuse for protection.

7 way to zamp

appropriate would be to make a fused pigtail mating to Zamp plug that is accessible to the outside.
