Yamaha EF1000is gas fumes?

I have the Yamaha EF3000 w/ boost. Its been a very reliable generator, but I'm looking for a small, light generator to take along for battery charging when AC is not needed.

Before I bought the Airstream, I carried the Yamaha 3000 in a class B van. Due to the nature of its fuel system, I frequently smelled gasoline when carrying it in the van. When towing the Airstream its always in back of pickup truck.

Has anyone experienced carrying the 1000 inverter model and not noticed gas fumes? Particularly with changes of elevation or warm temps? I would like to store the generator at times either in the trailer, or in the truck cab, if thats possible.
