I just did the easy start conversion and the it works just as advertised. I have an earlier Yamaha propane converted 2000i which can start the 15K btu A/C but won't keep it running. Airstream Adventures North West just sponsored a two rally for newbies with a few mentors from the Wally Club. One day full hook ups and one day dry camping. They had a couple of the Yamaha 2000i v2 inverters and I had heard they perform better than the earlier ones. I can say it does. I was able to run the A/C even in the eco mode. However, you must turn to the store mode so current is used to charge the batteries. It works the A/C, refer and minimal use of the water pump but that's about it.
When I get back to my home base, I will try again with my paired Yamaha 2000i twins. I'm expecting it should work. I also have a another easy start to install in my second A/C which is rated at 13.5K btu. Looking at the A/C specs though, there is not much difference between the two A/C power and current requirements.

As a side note, genconnex will provide for free a couple of orifices for higher elevations. One for 5000-8000 feet and one for 8000+. Stock orifice is sea level to 5000 feet. Easy to change out on the fly with a Allen wrench.

I was camping last week 8000+ feet and was showing a friend how the Easy Start would power the AC with the h2000. At compressor kick, generator surged and even the fan on the AC slowed down a second, but compressor didn't kick in. Changed the orifice and it worked. Output was diminished just enough at high altitude with the stock orifice to prevent compressor start up.

Just a heads up for those who travel in variable elevations like I do. Not that I need the AC at 8000+ feet--it just makes the point that changing the orifice will maximize your gen output while charging, running appliances etc.

Typo in my earlier statement. Use the store mode so current ISN'T used to charge batteries.

Here are comments from Genconnex from when I originally ordered the kit. I live at 6,000 feet, the Uinta mountains near me get up over 8,000 pretty quick, plus I spend time in southern Utah at 4,000 feet, but also get to sea level on the coast as well. My biggest concern was AC in the desert which is always below 5,000 feet so the stock orifice is fine, but boondocking at higher elevations, I change it out to make sure I'm getting max output when charging batts. Please note that they actually send two orifices, 5-8K and 8-11k. Easy to change, just open the access cover, pull the supply hose off, the orifice screws in to that fitting. Takes 2 minutes.

I have also included a note to send you the free orifice kit for high altitude. It should be changed out if you’re above 5-6k or you may not get enough power output from the generator to run you’re a/c. Generator power (all versions) is reduced by about 2% per 1000ft above sea level but is even worse if you don’t change to the correct fuel orifice. Effectively, that number can double because it’s not only thinner air but not properly balanced with the fuel. Your 2000Watt peak power could be as low as 1300-1400Watts at 7-8k.

Don't these Genconnex kits have a load block? That is how I adjust the mixture on my US Carb converted Honda's.

Although this is an interesting science project, isn't it defeating the purpose of having a generator?
I read, "Make sure your battery charger isn't on." If I have to worry about turning on the radio crashing the whole system, then I need a bigger generator.
I have HUGE respect for the Honda EU 2000, but I bought the EU3000. Yes, it's heavy, but it's staying put and I'll run an AC AND the can opener without a meltdown.

I put in the Easy Start to avoid tripping the 20 amp breaker when plugged in at home. It works great for that purpose.
The other day I toyed around with the (2) Honda EU 2000s. With the generators paralleled, either generator running solo will start and run the AC by itself. Using a decibel app on my phone, I found that both generators running in eco mode with the AC running was quieter than a single generator doing the same.
Just for kicks, two generators with eco on, AC running, I turned on the electric water heater. They revved up some, but carried the load.
I did not try to start the AC while the water heater was on, but I think the pair of them would handle it.
