Sounds like a problem with the air conditioner. Does it work on utility power?

Perhaps the fan motor is stuck. Sometimes they stick if they haven't been used for a while. Remove the shroud and turn it by hand to free it.

You may have an issue with your AC unit if the fan does not run. Have you tried this connected to shore power? If the fan motor is frozen it could cause the generator to overload. It could also be a bad start cap for the fan motor.

If you are turning the AC fan only on and it is not coming on your problem is not the generator your problem is in the AC.

You should be able to run the fan only. Sounds like the fan motor is your problem. Go on the roof and remove the shroud, or is possible reach in through the shroud and see if you can turn the fan blade. It should turn freely. If it does not turn freely that would stall it and run the current high.

If it turns freely the next thing to look at would be the starting cap on the fan motor. If the cap is good the motor would be suspect.

Ok, now ya'll are making me think it might be the fan so I'm gonna see if I can fiddle with that. Give me a few minutes.

SUCCESS! Climbed on top, removed the shroud, turned the fan blades a bit, restarted generator. Fan works great, a/c is cooling now.

Thanks so much for all the help. Did I mention it's 102 degrees in Austin today?

Great news! 102 isn't that bad, we are looking at 113 today...

Whew, that's hot. Of course, I hear it's that nice, dry, comfortable desert heat

Down the road from you in Houston its blazing hot, least you can head over to the hill country and get in the cool Guadalupe.

Since i've just went down the Yamaha road with success on my unit knew the Genie will work. Hope to see you at a Texas Rally. I take it you go down to Corpus/San Padre for some good bird watching.

Hard to beat Houston for muggy misery in August. I've only had the Airstream for a couple years and have not been to a rally yet but want to go at some point. I bird all over whenever I can, it's consumes alot of my free time.

This was my first post on Airstream, I've been a lurker up to now. Must say, I'm very impressed by the knowledge available and the sheer volume of information on the site.

There is a neat weekend rally in Blanco Texas about the second week in december we went to last year. Great group of folks and pretty low key. Plus there's some people there that know all the tricks and fixes and have perfected the art of "airstreaming". The dates should show up in the rally section in a few weeks.
