Which Honda eu2200i to get

Ok so I want to pick up a Honda eu2200i generator this week. Iím wondering, do I get the companion because it has the 30amp plug in? Or do I need to get the standard model and use an adapter?

I have a companion (on propane). It lets me use the 30A cord as usual without dogbones. If I need a 120V outlet I use the ones in/on the Airstream after the generator is hooked up.

I guess it depends on what you want the generator for. If you want an all-purpose generator for use other than with your Airstream, get the normal one. If you want one mostly or strictly for camping with your trailer, get the companion. They will both work.

With purchase of the EU2200i companion and a special cable you can pair that unit to another regular EU2200i to double the power output. At that point the 30 amp outlet makes sense. The EU2200i companion alone outputs around 20 amps max, the 30 amp plug notwithstanding.

Unless you plan to purchase two of these generators save the extra $100 and just get the regular EU2200i. They are identical in every way except for the 30 amp plug.

I enjoy the 30 amp plug, seems more secure... Vinnie Airstream Repair is installing an Easy Start so I can run AC now and then, so the 30 plug works for me.

I would get a camo one. Those red generators stick out like a sore thumb.

Wait, where are you able to buy an EU2200? All the places around here are still on hold for the recall (I've called around a few times).

Good thread though as I was wondering the same thing about the Companion for the 30A outlet to save an adapter (I realize it won't put out 30A)

Been trying to find out also. Dealer not clear I don't think I would order online without knowing with certainty though...Ö

Recall Kits Are Out There

Dealers have had the recall kits for awhile.

If the recall has been done, the OEM box has a green round sticker on it.

Kit # 06161-244-A30

The kit is a new fuel shut off valve and a cute sticker.

I saw one kit being installed today.

You wi have to use an adaptor to the 30 amp trailer with either of them. I think the 30 amp generator is a little more solid than the 15. Does the Companion have both the 30 and a 15? I use a Companion 2000 and never bought or needed the second generator.
