Weight upclose of Yamahas
I just returned from a local dealer who had in stock the 2400 and the 3000 inverter models. The weight of the 3000 is definetly out of the question, and when I lifted it it had no battery inside! It would be very hard to imagine a couple handling this machine out of an SUV or pickup, Even with a ramp it would be a chore. The 2400 is ok has no electric start nor battery. Its no problem. You dont need the accesory wheels.
I also called AS and AC manufacturer. I did not know if the units on the AS are Penguin (low profile) or Brishair? The compressor load amps for the 13.5 AC is 12.4. The 15 heat pump version is 12.0. I was on hold forever and the CS I talked to had to read a manual so I dont take the info at 100%. A term "locked motor amps" at 64 amps I have no idea what that is?
Carburetion in WV has no 2400s in stock but can convert the carburetors if you send it to them. $242. material and labor for one unit. You would have to install the tach/hour meter yourself, if you ordered it at $50. Again no idea how difficult that is. The local dealer I found, and most listed on Yamaha's website locally, had no gens even here where everyone became educated in their use i.e. The Big H. He will take $1300 @ not including tax. I think Wise is cheaper.
There really is no choice if you want alternative fuel. Around here when I discussed it no one knew it could be done. If you dont want propane then the Honda are cheaper and lighter.
My situation has precluded the gas option. We dont want gas in the Burb either in some box, container, bag, etc.
