Usually the two wires are stubbed off near a skylight or fan under the skin. Hopefully the factory splurged and put tape over the ends of the wire......

They are SAE connectors, the same Zamp connectors as near the battery box. The roof box is a combiner box where you can plug in three panels and the are combined to one wire to the interior of the trailer.

I don't think you need connectors.

I bought factory solar on our 2014 FC25FB. They daisy-chained the panels using a box on the bottom of the panels to weather proof the wire nuts to make the connections and to connect to the lead-in wire. It was all 10 AWG. The roof entry was an L-shaped tubular connector with a lot of calk that was installed before the interior skin when on--it had a nut on the inside. This is all past tense because I recently replaced the whole thing with two 100 watt panels and 4 AWG cable from the roof to the new controller. The new roof entry is a combiner box from amsolar.com. They have some useful videos about how to use their products.

I didn't use any connectors on the new installation either.

If you think you may be changing the panels then connectors may be worthwhile but the combiner box makes that the screwdriver job.

On my sport 16 they are all connected. I just put 150 watts of panels on the roof and used two of the connections. They are SAE connectors. A simple MC4 to SAE connector is all you need. My question to those that have used the SAE connectors is, do they stay plugged in? They are VERY easy to unplug. I was hoping that they snap in but that's not the case. I was thinking about running a small bungy cord around the combiner box and through the connectors to hold them in place.

It is best if you purchase a heavy duty size 10 AWG SAE connector to use with solar connections. Many SAE connectors have very thin wire that you would not want to use with solar. I used one of these from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 cut it in half to make two connections to my Zamp rooftop box. The positive wire used the rubber squared edge side on the SAE connector and the negative used the bare round side on the SAE connector. The solar wiring schematic in my owners manual showed the Zamp box with positive and negative indicated as I described them. On my 2017 FC25FB, the factory pre-wires were strapped to the battery cables right next to the positive and negative bus bars which made connecting the solar controller very easy when following Airstream's wiring recommendation.
