Marc,

Thanks for the speedy reply.
What are you using for a mount pole? I already have a telescoping flag pole that is pretty robust and you can mount under the tongue or tv and/or coach wheel. I have seen several types advertised but they seem rather bulky. I noticed also that others have removed the blades for easy transport, easy operation?
We live right on Lake Erie so wind is not a problem. Also, most of our boon-docking is in the Adirondacks, plenty windy there too.

As John said, the wind gens work but take their toll on wildlife. Particularly on bats. Our huge wind gen farms out west kill hundreds of bats. The Bat Conservancy International has documented this and is working with the industry to find a solution. Most important now that our bee population is declining, we need the bats for pollination.

just my 2 cents worth.

We use the Air-X units at some remote radio repeater sites. They work fine, seem to last and aren't too noisy. But, spend the extra $150 or so on the "industrial" version if you are going to be anywhere near a high wind area. The difference is a little heavier wire (I think) and a big finned heatsink. We have burned out three sets of coils on one, but it's solid now that we added the heatsink.

Be advised that Southwest no longer offers the RV under wheel portable pole.
Said they had numerous complaints and could not justify the $700 price.
I was seriously considering the 400 turbine, but decided that for our style of camping, ('dock'n in the Adirondacks), it was not practical. Just to hard to get above the canopy or in an open area.

Cost me 20 bucks to send it back, was very impressed with quality of the turbine itself, just could not rationalize the pole.
