If you google Using a Honda 2000 in the rain you will get a lot of hits. Most say you can but don't let it set in the water or get the cord wet,

I replaced an old television tray top with a piece of 3/8" plywood 24" X 24". Lightweight, folds up small, and easy to place over the generator. I use it for a BBQ table when it is not raining.

Husband bought a deep plastic storage bin, cut out a piece from each end about 12"x8" (for air circulation) and turned it upside down over the gen. The good thing is that when it doesn't rain, we can use it for storage!
