Renogy Black Friday Sale

Black Friday Sale at Renogy. Everything 20% off.

I just priced their 100Ah lithium battery (the ones I bought this Summer, not their latest version). It's on sale for $799.00, but when you put in sale code BFSOLAR20 at checkout:

The price is $639.99 with free shipping! Almost $100 less than I paid. Arrrgh!

Renogy 100Ah Lithiums for $563!!!!!!

I've been watching the Renogy Black Friday sale since last week. Put a few things in my cart just to see the final price calculation.

Then today I get an e-mail that they have a additional 8-12% off for Cyber Monday, code: CMSOLAR20.

Even though the 20% Black Friday promo code: BFSOLAR20 was supposed to end yesterday at midnight, it looks like I was able to apply both codes to their $799 100Ah batteries in my cart.

It may be a fluke that I already had the Black Friday code in my cart, but the result is 30% off their $799 sale price:

4 Lithium 100Ah batteries for $563/ea. (free shipping, no tax)

If something you want to purchase is out of stock the web site will not let you add it to the cart for backorder. I wanted to buy their new 50A DC to DC converter with built in MPPT but it's currently out of stock. I called tech support and they sent an email to me that will allow me to receive the 20% off at a later date on the particular product I've inquired about.

That certainly seems like good customer service!

They are a great company for sure. That new DC-DC converter is very nice!

Hi

Amazon had the 100AH lithium's on sale for $518. The Renogy web site went a bit stupid about shipping on batteries. If you put one in the cart it would only do FedEx next day shipping. Obviously that's a bit pricey. Their customer service email didn't work as far as fixing the problem ....

Hi

So to be fair to Renogy, their email process came through at 9 pm looking for a phone number. I don't want to leave the impression they never got back forever and ever. We'll see how it goes when they call.

The root cause was their web site wanting to ship batteries one way and everything else another way. If both are in the same cart, the only shipping option is insane. Put in one or the other and it all works shipping wise. That doesn't work with their "discount when you by more" process ....

I did not pull the trigger on the Renogy batteries as I just couldn't justify adding more lithiums at this time. The only reason to do so would be to go with a huge (and expensive) bank of batteries to run the roof a/c. And then, I'd have no adequate way to recharge such a large bank of batteries.

Once I came to my senses (in the late hours last night), I deleted my cart.

Just as a test, I then added them back to my cart and this time sales tax was now added to the charges. I agree with sales tax on internet sales, but I've never paid tax or shipping from their site before. Don't know why.

Hi

I get the impression they did some sort of software update on the checkout end of their web setup part way through the sale. That certainly messed me up. Sales tax is not chargeable on shipping in PA. I don't know about other states.

Compared to the price of the batteries (even on sale) the cost of a charger is pretty minor. Even a high end hybrid inverter / charger is going to be a small part of the total cost for a "run the A/C" sort of battery bank.

Hi

Amazon has the 100Ah "not smart" version of the Renogy Lithium's on sale for $599 today. Not quite as good as Cyber Monday, but still a good price.

Thanks Bob. Renogy has some great sales. But as a customer who has spent over $2500 with then recently, I only get notified of sales on their website and miss their flash sales on Amazon or Ebay. Right now on their website they are only showing their customary $799 sale price. Far from their best deal.

Hi

I think that Amazon really likes to control when they put this or that on sale this time of year. They want you checking back on *their* site every 10 minutes for a couple months.

I'm waiting to see what amount of price drop will occur with Lithium batteries over the next couple of years. If prices were to drop by half, I'd like to get two 100Ah batteries for home generator use. Or more specific, to eliminate the need for a home generator, mostly for potential hurricanes where I live.

I really hated dealing with a generator for a few days after Hurricane Harvey just to basically keep the refrigerator running. 200-300 watts of solar and a couple of batteries should work, and silently.

Hi

Well, they *did* drop by half a few weeks back. Did you stock up?

The 5% discount still works. I didn't order any parts using the discount code but I applied the code at the checkout just to see if it worked and it does!

Instead, I was able to apply the 20% Black Friday discount that I mentioned below.

I noticed the new 50A DC-DC converter was back in stock as of this weekend. I called customer service to remind them they had promised to apply the Black Friday discount and they said no problem. The looked up my phone number to verify the previous conversation, applied the discount code, and the unit was shipped today. Should be received later this week.

Just be aware that they are strict on their return policy. 1 day late and nothing doing even with unopened items.

I bought panels and mounting brackets on one of there web site sales and didn't start the project until 35 days later. Several guys here showed me a better way to mount my panels and ended up buying different brackets. I used their (Renogy) web site to contact them for a return authorization and basically got ignored, called and ask if they received my email and they said yes and I asked why I didn't hear from them and they said your purchase is beyond the 30 days. I reminded them they were just brackets in the original package unopened and their reply basically was so sad to bad. Beware!
