R U Grounded?

Hi, for those who have and use portable generators, my question is: do you ground your generator and how? Do you use a ground rod? [copper] Do you use a twist in the ground dog anchor? Or maybe, do you use a wire lead with a clamp to clip onto campsite water pipes?

My understanding is that the power cord from the trailer to the generator, makeing a three wire connection between the two is sufficient. But for the possible chance of lightning it might be good to have an earth ground. If you do use an external ground, could you explain how and why you use it and maybe some pictures?
