Question on Yamaha EF2400iSHC - 2000 Watt Inverter Generator.

Has any one had any experience with Yamaha EF2400iSHC - Generator?
I was ready to purchase 1 Honda EU2000IKC Companion and then buy a 2nd later to run AC.
During research I found that this single 2400 Yamaha may able to run AC.
Should I stay with the Honda?

I have the Yamaha you're considering and like it a lot. I have it converted to where I can use propane or gasoline. Based on what others have said you should have no problem running a 13,500 BTU air conditioner with that Yamaha. I do believe some have said that running it on propane somehow results in less power being generated but I haven't been able to confirm that one way or the other. We've not camped with it yet where we needed to run the AC. It certainly handles the microwave, TV, etc. quite nicely.

We have the Yamaha and love it! We only have 11,000 BTU AC (2006 Bambi) and it has no problems starting up and keeping the AC going. We even used it in the Colorado Rockies and it worked great. A lot if people do the pairs but I wanted to save some $$ and only buy one Generator.

Hi, there are two different Yamaha 2400's; The 2400 iS can be paralleled and the 2400 iSHC can not be paralleled. Mine has run my 11,000 BTU air conditioner, converter, refrigerator and TV at high altitude. Those with larger air conditioners run their air conditioner and converter only. [refrigerator on propane]

I have the older model, Yamaha 2400is which handles my 13.5k A/C just fine. I've used it in ambient temps >100º. Great machine. The newer HC model has a larger capacitor for startup demands.

I checked on the Yamaha EF2400iS

I checked on the Yamaha EF2400iS and found it no longer available and has been replaced by Yamaha new modelEF2400iSHC.
This would have been perfect set up by having the ability to parallel 2 if 1 could not start AC.
I hate to put that much money out and it not workout.
I have a 1995 30’ Excella classic not sure what the BTU ratting for AC is to compare with all the newer units.

I have the 2400 ishc Yamaha and have run our 13.5000 AC. At the Florida State Rally I asked the Dometic rep what harm could this pair cause, his reply was that the generator would stop working before the AC would be damaged. So I am quite comfortable using the Yamaha.

I found the Yamaha generator on sale at wise.com when I went to purchase there was a red highlighted note.
Which said they did not recommend this generator for RV AC because the unit did not have a 30 amp plug and was not rated to operate AC. I have decide to go with Honda 1000 companion model which has 30 amp plug and will not require adapter if I elect to buy 2nd unit and pair them up

Hi, I believe that you mean the Honda 2000 Companion with the 30 Amp receptical; This still needs a 30 Amp RV adapter. This is my Yamaha with an orange 30 Amp RV adapter.

Robert, it is THE choice in the smaller gens Why? Not only will it run your ac. Yamahas have booster technology, are direct drive as opposed to Honda's belt, are quieter under a load, have twice the expected life expectancy as per the government sticker and are available from a Yammy dealer as a tri fuel version if you only use it once in a while and want to use propane and save from gumming up the carb - the #1 service call on gens. Oh and you can use an adapter for the plug.

I tried to get that dual plug adapter but it was taken off the market because it blew circuits on homes etc that people were trying to use it on. The dealer told me to use a single plug adapter and it would be fine. The red overload light will warn you if there is a problem. Also some dealers include the advanced gauge with it. If you order the tri fuel model it takes time to get but a dealer does the mod and it is covered under warranty

Robert I like the adapter you have. I have not seen one like this, where did you purchase the adapter? It looks like it connects to both ports of duplex receptacle. I have plugged in with a inline adapter and it got hot and melted extension cord the adapter you have looks much more robust.
You may have swayed me back towards the Yamaha.
Yes you are correct I did mean 2000.

Hi, Note: The orange 30 Amp adapter is only for use with duplex recepticals that are wired on the same circuit. Recepticals that have separate circuits in houses and in commercial/contractor's type generators won't work.

Simply put, If the duplex has three wires connected to it, one BLACK, one WHITE, and one GREEN it will work. If the duplex has two BLACK, two WHITE, and one GREEN, it won't work.

I have the older EF2400is and have used it on both a 20 year old SOB with a 13,500 BTU A/C and now use it on my 2005 Classic with a 15,000 BTU A/C. I have never had any problems using it with the A/C and have used it several times for a few hours.

Correct. I hunted for sources on the Internet and found it but when I contacted the company I was told that it was removed from the market as a hazard DUE TO people not using it correctly and plugging in to household plugs, etc. The problem with the adapter is that people assume that because there are two outlets they will have double amperage. In home wiring that is not done UNLESS the plug itself is split into two circuits and on the same phase. Most likely that is what most buyers were trying to do with the adapter. The Yamaha only puts out a single phase 120 volt that is divided into two 15 amp (OR SO) outlets. For the dual 30 amp adapter to work that jumps or connects, At any rate, I contacted the place I bought the generator from and spoke to them about the 30amp and of course heard the part about the amp rating but was told to use a single adapter for the plug and it would be fine as long as I did not continuously draw more and bog the generator down. So far I have not. I was able to run a fantastic fan on full power, run my 11K AC, and use the microwave on a 45 second burst all at once. The red light slowly glowed red toward the end of my test but it proved that I was not taxing the generator with just air. I am not sure how much more "continuous" load the 13K AC has but around 50% of generator is ok for long runs. I refer to the 24isHC. The last part (HC) refers to the booster/capacitor technology that works for motors, etc, getting over that initial startup draw.
