Good to know. Honda definitely makes a solid product; you pretty-much know your dough bought a runner.

Well it sounds like you have already gotten some very good info back. I just retired as well I also have a 2014 flying cloud and looked long and hard for which gen to get. The 3000 is a little short at running everything in your RV. You can make it work. But it was too heavy to lift in and out of that truck. I can do it now but not so sure about in 5 years. The two 2000,s are not heavy and together can run everything. They have a 30 amp outlet and I also got the larger gas tank. They will run a long time between refueling. So no getting up in the middle of the night. I think the two 2000,s is for sure the way to go here.

You will need two Honda 2kw to run the A/C. The 2 Honda's will give you 27amps.

Am I missing something here?

Yes, the neighbors.

My point was that at a reasonable distance (i.e., the neighboring campsite) the ambient noise of the AC unit itself would probably negate the small reduction in noise between a single 3000 and two 2000s.

So, if I'm understanding the accumulated wisdom, the Honda 3000iS is *not* sufficient to run one of the 15000 BTU heat pumps on our A/S?

And Robert@Honda, can you link a 3000 and a 2000, or do they have to be equal outputs?

The EU3000 fails to work for *some* people it seems to start the compressor.

If you google this question RV.net forum threads details several people that describe years of good effective use ....and then also a number of people describe it that it failed to start the compressor

I have no clear idea why for some it works and others it appeared not to work...but perhaps various changes in environmental conditions or differences in particular 15k AC units tips the scales

The linking is for two similar capacity Honda generator sets (i.e. two 2000 units or two 3000 units). The challenge is the inrush current to start the compressor. The 3000iS Honda is rated 3000 watts max with a continous rating of 2800 watts.

Two 2000 Honda generator sets (EU2000i coupled with a EU 2000i Companion) can handle 4,000 watts maximum with a continuous rating of 3200 watts. That is why the two can support a single air conditioner where the 3000iS might not support it.

The marketing material claims supporting only the 13,500 BTU air conditioner which is typically the second one added to the AS trailer. But our two 2000 Honda generators, when coupled, can run the 15,000 BTU primary air conditioner .

Apparently per multiple posts on other forums (3 to be exact on I've read)I have heard of successful parallel of different Honda units (ie Honda 2000+3000) - I have no idea if this is a good idea - just thought I would share that from a recent read...

The internet said it - must be true....
