Need help/advice -- Onan generator failed

My Onan 6.5 NHEFA generator has died the expensive death -- rotor needs to be replaced, or so I am told. Will get a second opinion, but it does not look good.

I'm seriously thinking of replacing the Onan with a Honda 6010. Cost to repair (or replace the Onan with another old-technology Onan) is supposed to be greater than the cost to replace the Onan with a Honda.

Except that Onan service technicians can repair/replace the Onan and presumably will do factory warranted work whereas the Honda install may be problematic in that regard.

Any and all advice re: replacing the Onan with a Honda 6010 (or other suitable generator) would be appreciated.

I don't have any experience with the Onan but I have the Honda Genset (installed by PO). IT has been trouble free for me (except that it had the 20 amp circuit wired to the 120V box and the 30 amp dedicated to the rear AC, easily fixed).

Glen Comb just put the Honda in his rig. Had lots of install problems, I'm not sure what he thinks of the Honda in service.
