I am looking at going to a pair of Honda EU2000's for the AS. Are these convertable to run on LP, and is it the thing to do or not? If it is feasible, what is involved and what does it cost?

If you do a search on propane conversions you will find a ton on this. Im pretty sure you can get conversion kits for both Honda and Yamaha generators and that people are pretty positive about it. I think if I get a gen I will be doing a conversion. Maybe add a propane connection at the back of the trailer for the hookup?

Moosetags, I have an EU2000i that I did the conversion on myself. I am very happy with the result. I got my kit from propane-generators.com. The only conversion for the EU2000i is the kit that makes it LPG only. If you wanted to go back to gas, you would have to buy a new carb, as you have to drill the old one out for the new jet.

I also have converted a Honda generator (an EU2000i) to propane, also using a kit from US Carburetion (http://www.propane-generators.com/). The generator works great. The conversion is for low-pressure gas and, using parts from US Carburetion, I have a quick disconnnect for the low-pressure (after the regulator) supply to the trailer. It was possible to put all of the conversion stuff inside the generator by cutting out part of the gas tank and using that for a mounting bracket. Attached is a picture.

I am going to return the propane conversion kit I purchased from USCarb for my Yamaha and exchange it for the Honda kit. Your conversion sure looks sweet. Could you provide more details? I'd like to do the same thing. Did you drill out the jet in the carb? It looks like the propane connection is now a QD under the gas cap.

A friend recently bought an EU2000. He was told by the dealer that propane conversion would void the warrantee. If it's true that the Honda can't be set up to swtich from gasoline to propane that might be enough to sway my decision toward the Yamaha 2400. The little extra power with the Yamaha is nice but it's a good 20# heavier. I can't think right off hand why I'd want to run on gasoline if I had the propane option but I've been told that the total power available drops slightly with the switch to propane.
I don't know about that power drop. I have a 14kW (47amp) whole house generator - propane powered. It's spec sheet gives a higher rating for propane over natural gas and regular gasoline (DON't ASK ME WHY????). The dealer I bought from stated that he could not understand why anyone would buy a generator to run off gasoline. Especially the small portable ones that rarely get the usage and have fuel get old in the tanks. BTW - on the MS coast post Katrina, the Honda dealers are doing record business on the Honda 2000 and 1000 models with the propane kits installed from the factory.
I guess the only reason for wanting to be able to use gas would be if you were in a situation where you didn't want to drag allong a propane bottle & hose. Of course if you have to drap allong a gas can then I'd rather pack the propane. Any guess how long a Honda would run at say half load with one of the disposable bottles? For that matter, what's the standard attachment thread, if there is one for the propane conversion. I'd hate to have yet another stinking adapter hose to carry around.
Thinking about getting one of these and converting it for LPG. I'm surprised in my Googling that I'm not finding pre-converted models, but I suppose if that voids warranties it makes sense.
Found a dealer locally (30 minutes away in Schaumburg, IL) selling them today for $859. Not bad, huh?
