hey george,, what is a pollak male end.. can you get picture of the whole setup.

I was thinking along the same lines. Running a #10 wire ( i will use a 24+ volt panel) from the Mc4 end from panel on truck roof to connector coming out of trailer that continues to Charge controller sitting up near the batteries. might have to install a terminal block to accommodate the larger wires to make connection to charge controller.

Do you have any panels on your trailer as well?.. I guess if you get a large enough amp charge controller you might could run both at same time.

I gotta figure out how to make this work so just asking questions from everyone that will answer and i appreciate yours and the other that have come in.

The Bogart Engineering SC2030 controller is about 2 feet from the batteries, and the #6 PV lines run out to beside the battery box where I have one end of the Anderson connector. Then I have 25 ft of #6 cable with the Anderson on one end and the Pollak male end on the other so I can take it off the trailer as it would be too tempting for someone else to remove it for me.

I believe I got them from etrailer.com.
I only have the 3 100W panels on the canopy and that has been plenty because we are not heavy electrical users.

OK cool thanks

the pollick plug is a two prong deal,, look like a 7 pin but a bit smaller?..
the anderson plug i am familiar with I do like that pollick plug as it looks to be a bit more weather resistant closed than an anderson plug hung off the back.

Pollak Heavy-Duty, 4-Pole, Round Pin Socket, Concealed Terminals - Chrome - Vehicle End Pollak Wiring PK11410

found it.. looks like the deal for sure.

thanks again.

You'll want the 2 pin. The male and female ends are bought separately, made of metal ( not chrome)and are larger than the 7 and 4 pins.
It was etrailer as I checked and they still sell them. I believe they are good for up to # 4 welding cable?

Just found this post and I'm a little confused
My wife is absolutely dead set against putting panels on top of our 55 fc. She had the brilliant idea of putting panels on the TV shell instead so I went searching for info and something HIHO said confused me. Is it a bad idea to keep a couple of batteries in the truck bed wired to a solar charger/controller to supplement the 2 in the trailer and if so,WHY?
We boondock almost exclusively and are often away from the trailer during extended periods of the day with the TV and this seems like a great way to increase battery power without having to run the genny to charge batteries.
In several older SOB rigs I have had a second under hood battery on an isolator plugged in to supplement power when running the furnace etc without noticeable problems.
Planning on starting my new wiring install soon and any preinstall planning advise is appreciated
