How to hookup Generator?

I just purchased 2 Yamaha 2000is generators and have them connected together. When I connect the airstream to the generators I don't seem to be getting power (no tv, a/c etc.). Connection was made by plugging my 50 amp cable directly to the airstream via the normal shore connection spot and then using a 50 to 30 amp adapter to plug into the generator.

I have 50 amp service and as a result don't have the generator prep package or automatic transfer switch. Is there something else I need to do because of this?

Thanks in advance!

Fiddled with it some more and got it to work. Perhaps I had a loose grounding wire or something.

I have both the Honda 3000 and the Yamaha 2800i Tri Power (runs on nat. gas, LP, and gasolene.)

The Honda has wheels and electric start, so it is too heavy for me to lift into the bed of my pick up truck (134 lbs.), and is too tall to hide under the tonneau cover. Other than that, I like it just fine. It's fairly quiet, and uses very little fuel when running with a light load.

The Yamaha has the same power rating, but no electric start, no wheels. It is light enough for me to lift into the truck (70 lbs.) and small enough to hide under the tonneau cover. It is also quiet, and miserly with the fuel. If I remember to choke it first, it always starts on the first pull.

I use the Yamaha for power when boondocking. I have had the AC running along with the converter, fridge on electric, water pump, and Keurig coffee maker, and had plenty of power.
