Hour meter for Honda EU2000i

Is there a fairly simple way to install an hour meter on a Honda EU2000i generator?

Simplest way I know is to wire it to the 12v part of the unit. It will only "run" when the generator is running.

Walter,
Look up SenDec on Yahoo and you will find multiple sources for SenDec Corporation hour meter/tachometer devices. Even a number of Yamaha generator sources sell the SenDec hour meter. I installed one on my Yamaha 3000iSEB generator just after I got it and it works great. All you have to do is roll the end of the wire attached to the meter around the spark plug wire going to the spark plug. The meter has a peel and stick backing so that you can mount it to the generator where you want it.

You can buy an hour meter at sears for around 30 dollars. Other places have them also. All you need to do is mount the meter on the unit (its rea small) and attach the lead to the spark plug wire by wrapping it around the wire. This is the way many small garden tractors and small engines have hour meters attached. IT is very very simple.

Look for something called "Tiny Tach", it wires around the sparkplug wire and shows RPM and run hours. Fully automatic.

Either of the above mentioned items should be available at local Lawn & Garden Equipment supplier...or Grainger
