Honda on the side

I have a need to lay my honda 2000 on its side during transport. It's converted to long only so no danger of gas leaking. Just don't know if it's bad for gen. I've contacted Honda but nothing back yet

Believe there is a problem storing the Honda on it's side with oil in the sump. Check the manual. Pat

Just off the top of my head,
I would be concerned about where the engine oil would end up. Could back into the cylinder, run out the oil fill spout, etc.

I used to store an outboard in a position with the foot of the unit slightly above the engine. Not recomended, but required by the storage spot in the boat.
Did that for years with no problems.
But that was a two stroke engine with no engine oil to worry about.

Cheers Richard.

If I remember correctly I believe some on here removed the feet off theirs to get and extra 1-1.5 inches for their tonneau cover clearance. I would agree with the oil concerns.

Thx for inputs. I don't know what I was thinking about the oil. I'm putting in a bed slide that eats up 4" and will look at removing feet

Not sure if this gives enough extra space, but maybe try measuring to see if you can create a recess in the bottom of the slide floor for the feet to rest in, not interfere with the slide motion, so that the feet would set down in it, and the base of the unit rests on the floor of the slide. If it would measure out OK, this would help hold the gennie very securely too.

Not a good idea. Oil could enter the cylinder and since it does not compress could cause serious engine damage. Not to mention getting into the intake, could result in carburetor problems.

Who are you getting the bed roller from? I bought mine from Highway Products, and also bought their "Pickup Pack", which consisted of tool boxes down each side of the bed and a 4" raised dome cover over the bed compartment. Very secure, and plenty of room for my gear - including 2 Yamaha 2000s.

I'm getting the bed slide. It'll carry everything I need to support camping, except head clearance for the H2000 is questionable. Your setup is very nice but my folding top limits height from deck to topper. I might still be able to make it work in bed but will use alternate plan if not.
