I just bought a Honda 3000is yesterday, it is quiet! I will post updates as I use the unit. Got it on sale at a local dealer for $1799.00 plus state tax. First impressions: Super Heavy for one person to lift (no wheels yet), rugged looking and compact, very quiet, looks easy to service except the battery which is under a cover that has to be removed, although it is a "gel" type battery. Did I mention it was heavy?

I would really like an update on how you like the 3000. I am looking at generators now. How do you plan to carry you generator?

My buddy on our Alaska camping trip last week had the 3000. Don't know why he needs it -- never uses the A/C up there. It is very heavy -- think I've heard 140#. Figures -- since it has its own starting battery. It took two of us to lift it in and out of the back of the truck and it still was a beast. He used a heavy vinyl-clad bike lock to lock it to his B.A.L. stabilizers -- would have been easier to slice thru the stabilizer I guess. He made a simple dolly with roller wheels to move it around his garage but that wasn't for the truck.

Nice work on the 3000is! I don't have too much experience w/ that, however, my dad bought 2 Hondas two years ago. I thought that they were 2500's, but I noticed on Honda's site that they have they look like the 2000is. Very portable and light weight compared to the larger ones. He bought 2 becasue they can be tied together to power larger items like his AC! It's an electrical device that attaches to both units together and gives him 4000 watts! He's had very good luck w/ them and they are very quiet!

I have a larger style 5000 that's very difficult to get into the back of my Excursion by myself!!!

Hi valvestem, cool name and welcome to the forums.
I recently bought a 3000 from a co-worker, divorce sale. 2 hours on it. :-)
It is heavy, around 140# but do-able for two people. I lifted it out of the truck by myself but wouldn't want to do that routinely.
While I haven't had the chance to use it with the trailer yet, I plan on keeping it in the truck. If I need to unload it I will either get my wife or daughter to help me lift it, or use a ramp and roll it out/in.
Here is a thread showing what I and others have done to avoid buying the high priced Honda wheels.

I have the 1000I and a 3500 on wheels but pull start. Love them both. I got the 3500 at a yard sale for 700.00 Guy NEVER used it and had orig bill of sale, manual and everything for it. Its just like new and Ive had it 10 yrs now.. Ralph

Just some quick follow up to the 2 -2000is hook up. The part that allows them to run in parrell is an "RV Power Outlet box" by Jentran Corp (I believe out of Georgia). Easy to use, easy to haul, very quiet and works awesome! Had I not bought my 5,000 already, I would have gone the other route! I did add wheels to mine which helped some!

Two Honda 2000is with the "combiner" saved our fannys in Monument Valley last week. It was 85 degrees at night and blazing hot during the afternoon. The generators ran four hours at a time without a problem. Whew!

I'm thinking valvestem's 3K can do the job as well.

If you have a 3000, and have wheels on it, there is no reason why you can't get a pair of aluminum ramps to roll it up into and out of the back of the truck. They fold in half, and are about 30" long when folded for storage. No sense getting a hernia lifting these things.

I saw then at Northern Tool this afternoon. If you don't like the price of the aluminum ones, the steel ones are half the price, and twice as heavy, also at Northern.
