Guardian Generators

Hi Folks:

Does anyone have any experience with Guardian RV generators? See http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...6970_36+280776 for some examples.

I am concerned that the Onan 4.0BF in our Argosy 26' MH is no longer up the task after 31 years (slacker!) and I am naturally concerned by the $3K+ price tag of a new Honda. I appreciate the old addage about getting 'what you pay for' so was wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Many thanks,

Andrew

I too am looking for a generator; however,it's for my lake property when the power goes off. This happens out in the sticks, but I'm not concerned about noise level since it's my land and it's for emergency. I checked Consumer Reports and got some good info. I can get their pick Troy-Bilt 5550 with 8500 surge for $699.00. For me this is what I will need for my Argosy and future house. I know this is not what you need, but there are those who think I should spend the 2K-3K for the Honda. If I was going for the gold it would be the Yamaha or Generac. I love Honda, but Yahama may now be better. Look at Consumer Report to see what they say. PM me if you can't find what you want without subscribing. I'll look for you. We Argosy owners have to stick together.

Six years ago we had a small class A motorhome with a Guardian, Generac, 5500 watt power plant. We had no problems with it and parts such as oil filters, etc were readily available. The only complaint I had with it was noise. They are better than a construction generaters but not by much. I never felt comfortable running it when near other campers.---pieman

Andrew, I'm running a Generac Quietpac 40G and have for almost 5,000 hours. I'd consider buying another if I had trouble with this one. I've only ever had one situation where I had to blow the carb out and it's been great since. My genset runs about 10-12 hours a day, every day I work. It powers my 15k a/c and all my electronics all day everyday. PM me and I'll give you a lead on a low priced seller I've noted.
I'm considering a move up to either a Honda EV6010 or the Generac 50... Height is my issue as I've dropped it into the belly of my rig, midships on the drivers side.
