Generator Won't Fit
I want to buy either a Honda or Yamaha 3000 watt generator with electric start to travel in the bed of my truck. The issue is both of these generators are about 22" high and under my Retrax bed cover I have 21" height. I can't go with a recoil start and I really don't want to go with one of the Chinese made units which are under 20 inches. Could I remove the wheels on the Yamaha and pick up at least an inch? Is there anyway to shorten the Honda an inch?

I don't consider the Champion inverters "really" loud....Neither did the 3 people that left reviews on the CW site.

You can remove the feet off the Honda to lower it.

How difficult is it to remove them, and how much height will you gain?

I'm gonna guess 1.25", not hard to remove there are 4 metal brackets with rubber bumpers in them held on by 4 bolts each.
You probably would run the generator on concrete after that as it would vibrate all over the place.

Well, these aren't. These are inverters and rated the same db as the Hondas. All the reviews I've read are very positive.
But, to each his own. Good luck with your search.

Yes, you have to have the rubber isolators. I'm going to look at the Honda today and see if there is a way to do this.

Well, no way to get the one inch clearance I need on a Yamaha or Honda electric start, so I will have to go with the two 2000's. Any advice on the best, least expensive source for two Honda 2000's?

go with Smarter Tools 2000W Parallel Capable Inverter Generator with Yamaha Engine. Do a search on these, they are little cheaper. I have one and i like it alot. Maybe next year i`ll get another and go parallel with it. Carl
