Generator Questions .... again

We are looking into the Honda Gen sets. Is it best to link up 2 Honda 2000 or go with the larger. We have a 19ft Bambi International, and are planning a 3-4 month journey thru the States to Canada. We also will be using it as a Hurricane home, when we lose power after a storm (which can be for weeks). Hopefully we will not have to use it for the hurricane issue

Any advice would be great ....

My personal preference is a pair of 2000 watt. That way I can always have a back up for minimum power. At the very least I will be able to keep the lights on and a fan or two going.

Hi Guys, We are on Orcas Island Boondocking right now . The two 2000 Honda's with a GENSET connector if you need it is the way to go. They are quiet, easy to move and simple. I highly recommend it.

We have a pair of Hondas and love em when we're in the boonies with no hookups. We can run the A/C and just about everything else at the same time. We link the Hondas together with a special gas can hookup and seldom have to mess with refueling.
We also have a Yamaha 3000 which requires a ramp to get it into and out of the bed of the truck. The unit is very dependable and quiet and is for sale.

Thanks for the advice! The 2 hondas sound like the way to go. Everything we have been reading seems to point in that direction. If we are powerless at home after a storm we need the security of knowing we are well powered in the Bambi.

Even though you've already made your choice, I'll chime in with the 2x2000 watt generator opinion. You will have 4000 watts instead of 3000 with the next size up, the two cost about the same as a single 3000, and you can schlep two 2000's, one at a time, but will have to be Magilla Gorilla, or get wheels, for the 3000.

Yep the 2000s tandem is the only way to go. We have had situations where my son needed to borrow one from us and we still had one to use. Combined that with the weight factor of lugging a larger unit, its the best choice to go with the 2 2000's

One 2000 run on gasoline should power the AC on the Bambi and anything else. A second one may be a waste of money unless you want the redundancy.

We probably would like to stick to the 2 - 2000 watt. For long trips and piece of mind. We lost power here after a hurricane for 7weeks in 100 degree weather in 04. I definitely don't want to be worried about A/C burnout because of low power. Also the weight factor is a great consideration too...

We are also in the Panhandle about 50 miles east of Pensacola. We also have a pair of Honda EU2000i's. They more than run the A/C and all the other gear in in our 25FB. It has enough left over to run the refrigerator in the house. We live three houses off the Gulf and have planned for the next storm. We will use the Airstream in the driveway and run the refer in the house while the power is out. It's a good plan that we hope we will never have to use.
