Generator Question

Generator Question: been reading on this forum needing to use two Honda 2000i generators to run my Air Conditioning.

Each generator puts out 1600 watts, my A/C draws 1350 watts - shouldn't this cover it and let me run my 1350 watt A/C off just one 2000i?

If not (like everyone seems to think), why?

I can isolate the 110v input to the trailer to only go to the A/C - shutting off the converter/charger (breaker), and not plugging in any 110v stuff.

Thanks for any answers from ones more electrical than me - been wondering about this for a year and summers coming fast.

Give it a try.

The higher your expectations the fewer your options.

Your AC needs 1350 watts once running, BUT start-up of the compressor will pull more current than your generator can supply and will probably trip the breaker on the genset.

We have a 25 EB and I have tried the AC on one 2000 Honda when we ran into some hot weather. If I run fan on low or med and put fridge on propane it will run AC.

Okay let look at those spec's your ac draws an average of 1350 but and hold tight all of you engineers out there! That is an average which is affected by (just about everything) temp, wiring, age and finally upkeep. The honda generator on a good day if it is working at 100% efficiency will put out and maintain 1600 +- 150 watts! Which any self respecting tech will tell you (que Scottish accent) "there not much room for error captain she may blow us all out of the galaxy" not really but she gonna work either! Just my humble opinion!
Gotta get busy! Have a great day! Now where did I put those revits?

Another Generator question

Has anyone had first hand experience with a Generac iX2000 Inverter Generator? I can't seem to find the specs on the noise level, etc.

Also, are they made in the states, or China.

I have a 13.5 BTU AC and use only one Honda.

I had to do couple of things to get the AC to restart after it has been running.

First, I installed a hard start capacitor. This allowed the AC to start off of the generator the first time but it would not restart the AC. To get it to restart i turn off all A/C breakers except for the AC. This helped sometimes, but the key item i found was to turn on the AC fan (from auto to on) and leave it running. This removes the start up draw from the fan motor at the same time as the compressor. The generator then has enough power to start the compressor with a running fan.

I get 5 to 6 hours out of the generator befor it runs out of gas, enough to make it though the night at Walmart or Cabela's
