Always an ad or two in the Blue Beret and Airstream Life...I got mine from Mayberrys about 7 years ago and it was about $100 cheaper than locally...

I also purchased our 2000 watt Honda from Mayberry about 10 years ago. Cheapest around at the time. Still am using it often. wolf146

We shopped local sporting goods stores and found some deals, we bought a Honda 2000i floor display model that was the last one, none other in stock so they gave us 10% off an already decent price because it was floor display and opened package. Works as new after 10 years.

Also look for military discount at some stores as you are retired military.

My research on Honda reveals a price lock controlled by Honda, similar to Weber Grills, a certain price level must be maintained by the dealers, period! Yamaha generators are less restricted and when I buy (soon) that's what I'll purchase. A Google search will reveal the best deals as they change frequently. PPL Motorhomes parts department in Texas has consistently been on the low side with no tax & free shipping.

Agree on the Honda price issues. About the most I have ever seen seen them discounted is about $50-100 at Camping World. Checked PPL, they have Yamahas on sale, substantial discounts.

Generator Prices

For me the the most economical route to premium on site power generation that is capable of running my air conditioning was the purchase of a single Yamaha EF 2400 iSHC.

I shopped Amazon for the lowest price and took delivery two days after purchase.

AW, I've been keeping my eye on Honda and Yamaha 2000's for a few months and that's the lowest price I've seen. Honda was at $899 for a while.

Those are the older Yamahas but best I can tell there isn't a big difference.

Probably the best deal out there.

EDIT - in fact, I just pulled the trigger on one!

I bought a Champion 2000 watt inverter/generator on sale from Camping World for less than $500 delivered. That was earlier this year. I am well satisfied with the unit, and it was about half of what I was considering.

Is it as quiet as the Honda?

I purchased two Honda 2000's from Mayberry 8 years ago for $899 each. That was the best price that I could find at the time. I looked them up on line and they are now $999 each. I have used these generators often and they still run like new.

Honda 2000 were down to $899 at Xmas and now at the normal $999. I've looked online at all the major generator retailers; Wise, Mayberry's etc. The new Camping World flyer states $50 off their normal price, not sure if that means $949 but then you would have to pay sales tax.

The new Generac 2000 is $799. CampingWorld had them in their new flyer.

If you are a Costco member they offer the Smarter Tools 2000w with Yamahaź MZ80 Engine. $599.

Champion 2000 at Amazon, $505, with good reviews, free shipping

I can't say for certain because I've not run it side by side with a Honda, but I didn't think it was loud at all. It is specified to be 53db at 23 feet.
I drive a Honda and have other equipment powered by Honda engines so really was leaning towards the Honda inverter. After researching the various makes, I chose the Champion and am satisfied with it. The cost was nice too.

I thought you would have to go to a EF2800i to run a 13,500 BTU AC?
