Generator platform

An Airstream dealer indicated that they could extend the rear bumper on a 25 ft. FC and mount a platform which could hold two 2000watt generators. Any experience out there with this?

Welcome to the forums! Glad to have you with us! It is generally held that adding significant weight to the rear bumper of an Airstream is a very poor idea and will ultimately lead to shell separation issues down the road...this applies to bike racks and certainly the weight of two generators. I would hesitate to do it. You can search the Forums for quite a bit if discussion on this topic...

Thumbs down

I agree with Terry; that would throw everything out of balance. I would not do it.

You could try to put it in front between the propane tanks and the trailer. That is how we carry ours. But we take only one.

Avoid adding weight to the rear bumper. Frankly, I'm surprised that an Airstream dealer made that recommendation.
