Generator HELP!!

I am the new owner of a Bambi 19 foot International 2006. I would like to do boondocking and was wondering if a Honda EU1000 generator would keep furnace and lights working or would you recommend something bigger.
I haul the Bambi with a V8 Toyota 4 Runner, which works great, but don't want the gas smell in the SUV, thus the reason for a smaller generator that I could mount behind the propane tanks. Am I nuts or would this work?

hi chris and welcome to the forums...

sure it can work.

IF you have 2 typical deep cycle batteries that are 80-100 amp/hours each...

expect to run the genset every 2-3 days when using the furnace much.

a used 1000w honda is a good starting place, and an inexpensive way to try life with a small generator.

IF you are committed to using a genset, consider the 2000w honda instead.

more power for not much more money or space or mass.

opting for the 2k allows running some a/c gadgets on a/c (blender, microwave, vacuum cleaner...)

there are several folks here who have mounted a 2000 on the tongue...

either behind the lp tanks or on a tray that extends laterally from the tongue...

and there are some virtually air-tight storage containers that completely contain fuel odors...

should u wanna carry it in the 4runner.

Thanks so much 2air'. The Bambi is a BIG step up from tent camping, so just having a working furnace and some light will be fantastic. The Honda EU2000 would be heavier for me(female) to lift in and out. Was thinking of solar but not sure. Greatly appreciate all the forums suggestions and advice.
