I finally fixed my Honda EU2000's to where they are easy and safe to use! I built a box with aluminum top and sides, a mesh floor, 6 "x12" louvers in the sides, and 12"x24" drop down doors in front and back. The drop down doors also have mesh to keep prying fingers out. With the side louvers, front and back drop dop downs and mesh floor they get plenty of air for breathing and ventilation. I can use 1 generator or both in tandem giving me all of the power I need. I can use the box in the bed of my truck, which makes for a very quite install, or set it on the ground, chain the box to the frame of the coach, and leave it there. The box weighs less than 1 EU2000. I can run the generators locked in the box for security and saftey, no one can mess with the generators or get hurt. Of course if anyone really wanted them they could cut the lock but if they really wanted they could steal the whole coach. I will send a couple of photo's---hope the idea helps someone.

I was thinking of getting a second one and putting it on a roll-around type frame with a strap. I don't want to lose the portability and light weight of the units. Can 2 of them in the box be lifted easily??

Ron, that's a great looking setup! Did you fabricate the parallel cables or buy them from Honda??

What a neat setup. I have a 34 Excella and have been searching for generator that I can use with it. So far the generators I have found are very pricey and heavy. I like what you did and I would like to know what size generators did you get? And, do they supply you enough to run your AC?

I bought a Honda EU3000 last year and it will run my 34' without any effort. It can run all night with the A/C on - helpful on the hot Texas nights.

Vic, I bought mine from Mayberry's on the web. The feature that I like is the Econo mode: it will run about 24 hours on a tankful of gas then when it senses a need for more power it will increase the output. I also carry an extra 25' 30amp extension cord so that when we stop at roadside parks, we can run the microwave or A/C and keep the Honda in the pickup bed.

Vic, one more item to add. The EU3000 comes with a 20amp duplex outlet and a 30amp socket for a locking plug. I made a 12" pigtail from a 30amp locking plug (Home Depot) and a 30amp pigtail (local RV store), wired them together and now I have 30amp service at the generator.

Thanks for all of the information. I looked up the Mayberry site and there appears to be a backorder due to the Hurricane. Mayberry doesn't list a price but another site out of Washington State lists the same for $1699.00 and free shipping. Does that sound about what they should run?

Will you be at the Nov Rally? We plan to take a Thur and Fri off so we can come up and kind of relax a bit and catch up on some reading.

Vic, yes we will be at the Nov Rally - probably will arrive on Thursday as well. I want to remember the Honda was around $1,650 with shipping. They saved me some shipping costs with it coming to my work. The guy just moved it from his delivery truck to my pickup bed (it came on a palet).

I am looking at the Honda EU3000. We were some of the people that were w/o power for 10 days here in Richmond, VA. We used a friends honda for the last 5 days( an EB 6500) we decided that Honda builds a quality product!! Could you tell me what is the advantage for your wiring set up? We hope to get a 19 Bambi soon and would like to have the EU for a back up at home just in case. We would only need the refer and a few lights, we have natural gas for every thing else.

Abe, I chose the EU3000 for many reasons: 1) fuel tank size (run all night with A/C on), 2) it also has a dedicated 30amp socket. Most of the smaller Honda units only have a 15amp or 20amp duplex outlet (like your home) and 3) weight - about 125lbs just to name a few.
