GenConneX Propane Conversion for Honda EU2000i
I'm seriously considering converting my Honda EU2000i from gasoline to propane. For those of you who've dumped gasoline any regrets? For those of you who've considered LPG but not gone for it, why not?
If I make the switch I plan to use the GenConneX conversion. I really like how well-engineered the unit appears to be. I love how the unit maintains the factory appearance. I've worried about tearing off the external kits.

I have the same Yamaha that I bought converted to trifuel and I have converted a larger generator to trifuel with a different kit. This installation looks a little more complicated as you are actually removing everything that is gasoline, but I do like the clean look when you are finished.
The one possible drawback is that you have eliminated any possibility of using gasoline if you cannot get propane to the generator. I like that fallback position, but it plan C and I may never need plan C. I can run my generator off the trailer's low pressure propane connection.

That really looks like a neat installation. I've seen the one with the external mount and I just can't make myself add that to the outside of my generator. While this one is a lot more money, I might go this way.

I don't use a generator in large measure because of concerns about fuel handling.
That's the nicest propane setup I've seen.

I like that kit and the fact that the regulator in inside.
I converted my Honda 3000i to trifuel with a Central Maine Diesel kit. On the 3000i the regulator had to be mounted on the outside. I was told by CMD that they do not convert the 3000i because of time it takes. However I devised a method of mounting the regulator that was very quick. I did have to cut the fuel stem on the carburetor supplied because of space limitations.
While I retained the ability to use gas I will never use it. Propane/natural gas is the way to go.

Real noob question - but with that conversion, why would you use a separate 20lb tank? Would there e a way to connect to (in my case) the two 30lb tanks on the a frame?

Once converted you can hook up to any propane fuel supply you want to.
You can connect directly to one of your tanks with a Tee connection. You could connect after the high pressure regulator. Depending on which you choose you may need an additional high pressure regulator.
If I connect to the Nat Gas at home I can tape directly to the house system feeding directly to the conversion regulator.

Funny to see my reply 2 years ago knowing that earlier this year, I just converted my 2 Hondas to the Genconnex which I can connect to the low pressure port or tanks directly. 😀

Can 2 2000s still generate enough wattage to start a 15k AC, given the loss in energy density with propane?

They definitely start and run a 13,500 - I don't have a 15,000 so I can't answer that for sure.

Hi from AZ. . . just got my 2 Hondas w/propane from Genconnex today. . . Our new Pendleton will be my 1st with 50 amp power, & these are my 1st generators. . . . sure hope I can figure this all out when we get to Pagosa Springs next week. . . Be careful out there, Craig

If you have two 2000s, I think the only thing you want to watch out for is to run only one of your AC units on generator power.
The Genconnex conversion is very clean and the Pendleton is a really beautiful trailer. Have fun!

As rodsterinfl noted above, this is a pure propane solution - no gasoline with this conversion. That's fine with us, though others may prefer a tri-fuel product. Thanks!

I'm thinking going with just the standalone Honda 2000, $1499. It comes with the 6ft hose. I don't have a low pressure LP port on my 2008 Classic so don't need that hose that comes with the packages. I can do without the cover and I may just modify a plug for internal ground or purchase one from Progressive Dynamics if I feel I need one. I'll have to pick up a quart of Mobile 1 from my local automotive store and a small funnel.
