I'm going to do my first solar system install shortly and am gathering as much info as I can before proceeding. Trojan battery and AM Solar Rocker hardware on the way; Grape Solar panels, Zantrex charge controller and inverter in hand; and Trimetric 2030RV coming also.
My question has to do with penetrating the roof to run the MC4 cables inside. What method/ hardware is used to do so? I can't see drilling a hole through the roof large enough to fit the MC4 connectors through and filling with SikaFlex. It seems I've seen a video where someone had a junction box mounted up on the roof.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
How may solar panels of what size? Based on that the supplied cables may be undersized in gauge to maximize the output of your panels. AMSolar sells a junction box for exactly what you need.
I called AM Solar after my thread post. Roger there set me up with C box cables, and connectors. Great people over there!
