EV6010 Honda $2900...anyone know better $

Going to get something to replace the Onan.
It just will not keep running.

That price is with the muffler too.
Can anyone find one at a better price?

I like the water cooled engine, that is my deciding factor.
Yes, I have done a search.

All the way from Iowa too.

300 lbs, so have some help ready
Will add photos as install goes along.

Power Grid

It does look like overkill...
On a MH the generator is critical to on the road comfort.
The dash air does not stand a chance in the summer.

90% of its use will be during the trip, powering the roof airs.

About 5 seconds after your gen shuts off, your sweating in a toaster.
It happened too many times comng back from the beach a few weeks ago.
Don't want to keep tinkering with the Onan, so the new Honda was sprung for.
I want to forget about that problem for a long time.

Plus we can now wash clothes, run the ice maker and watch TV on the way there.

Flathead vs OHC

The Onan on its way out...
Had to use the leveler jacks to get clearance

This is the plate under the Onan...

This is the template for holes needed under the Hionda...

After adding holes = Swiss Cheeze...come on !
This is rediculous !

At least the muff looks like a quite one...

Should have running in a few hours...adding insulation and rerouting wires now.
More later...
Oh...the Honda is very much lighter.

Holy smokes!! 6000 watts. What will you be running on the road, two A/C's?

No, seriously, sounds like you won't have to deal with this problem again for this rig. Honda makes outstanding gennies.

Honda RV generator

I have had a 4000 watt version of that same machine for nearly 10 years now. You will not be sorry, typically for Honda it is a great machine. The quiet hum of the twin cylinder engine also puts all the singles to shame

Power To The People

Whew...
Dang its hot outside...but job is done
ACs (both) running at top speed.
Tougher job than expected.
Good to know I should never deal with this again.

Stripped out all the old foam, most was powder anyway, and added these boards with foal liner.

Going up and in...

Its in there!

30 and 20 amp curcuits...
Thanks MooseTags...

Bottom view

Cranked right up !
Has a very different sound.
Higher pitch, kinda like a large fan.
Runs both AC without any ramp up and down of RPM.
As I add a draw, I don't hear any change in it.
That must be why Honda went with higher RPM than most others.
I'm impressed, and glad its done...now on to something else.

Some notes:
Used the foam in a can...
Both the usual red and yellow can that expands with great force as it drys...
This is still my favorite.
Very strong when skinned over and very tough adhesive too.

Tried the latex version too,
It drys without expansion force, but crushes at touch.
A very light foam.

If you look up dealers for Honda RV generators...from the Honda site,
They are the only one that comes up.

I ordered Monday, FedEx called at 8am Wednesday for directions.
