Check your local Marinas to see if they have off-road blended fuels that might be all petroleum, we here have some normal stations with rec gas as well.
Just spoke to our Marina guy yesterday...has not been able to find a supplier for the good stuff yet, not really sure if it's just a NY thing or not. I sure would like some 91 straight for the Merc ob though.

no premeum gas!

the aluminum heads in your engine are not design to run with any thing over 87 octane, or they stand a good chance of warping. Use seafoam to add to your gas tank with new gas and runn the entire tank through while under load. it should clean up the carb. If not it may be rebuild time for the carb and fuel system.

lo octane ng; hi octane oui, oui.

airports have higher octane fuel. plus most drag strips, some roundy-round tracks and if all else fails, buy a 55gallon bomb directly from VP.

I will stick with the recommendations found in the owners manual.

Quote:

This engine is certified to operate on regular unleaded gasoline with a
pump octane rating of 86 or higher.

I stupidly left a small amount of fuel in my EU1000 for just two weeks, and then had to have the carb cleaned out, again. I had a run of three years with a perfectly runing unit, and I do/did not run mine every month. Lesson learned; again. If you're not going to run the gen for another couple of days, run it dry, and then drain what is left using the carb drain screw.
