Earth Ground?

I bought a second Yamaha 2000 and a parallel kit to tie them together, since my larger generator has magically gained weight each and every year (it's a mystery how that happens).

So reading the manual again, I zeroed in on the caution to earth ground both generators. I'm sure the big (2800 watt) generator has the same caution. The question is, how many people are actually doing that? In our travels, I don't recall ever seeing anyone ground their generator.

I have never seen anyone ground a portable generator. Too the best of my knowledge they are all still alive.

The Honda 2000i has a screw on the front panel for grounding. If you want to play it safe, you can attach a length of wire to the screw which terminates to a cooper rod which you pound into the ground a few inches at each camp site.

My Gererac 7000 watt generator (which is my backup power at home) is grounded through the front metal foot on which it partially rests.
