Champion 3400 dual fuel RV

Drawn to this generator due to wattage, very quiet, dual fuel, as I want to run it on propane, 30 amp RV plug, electric start, (needs small solar panel to keep battery charged).

https://generatorgrid.com/reviews/ch...00w-dual-fuel/

What do you all think?

Price seems to be around $1,100 US, $1,275.00 at Cosco here in Canada. Significantly cheaper than the Honda's.

Cheers

Have one. Modified it slightly to run properly off my low pressure port or a portable tank.

Saved us on last monthís long trip with no hookups and high heat and humidity all the way. Runs my single air conditioner without grunting much. Didnít use too much propane, either. Canít hear the generator over my unducted air conditioner, either.

We have had this generator for over a year now and love it. Has never failed us with running our single air conditioner and other items. I also modified ours to run off or low pressure propane line. Love the option of both fuels. Maybe not as quiet as a Honda, but darn close! For the price, I can live with a decibel or two.

I own this generator also and love it! Only run it on propane and always without a hiccup running one of my 2 AC units microwave and lights. Highly recommend it.

We have this generator also, never seen gas, propane only, runs like a champ and is relatively quite as the Honda.

Only downside is the weight, right around 90 pounds, so be ready to lift it.

Have had mine half a year and love it, also run off the LP port. There is an extensive thread on this generator here somewhere, where the group addresses the components necessary to run off trailer propane, and where they got the best deal.

Had my Champion 3400 DualFuel model 100263 since mid-2017. Also only use it on propane, either from the Airstream low-pressure port or from a 20# bottle. Works perfectly for my needs. I always ask my neighbors if they heard it run and typically hear they didn't even notice it. It has 146 hours registered since new on a cheap self-installed hour meter: https://www.amazon.com/NKTECH-Motorc...MN2B1VDJYK0BBR

Keep doing a google search as the prices can drop during winter months. Found mine for $670 delivered.

Just found a factory refurbished on FactoryPure for $689.00. Says most units have less than 10 hours and come with a 90 day warranty. Has anyone purchased from these people?

Champion 3400 dual fuel RV

Here is the thread referenced above where many of us purchased the generator and I came up with the the parts and approach with help from Champion to modify the hose for use with the AS low pressure port.

It a long but good read. Get some popcorn ready.

Champion 3400 dual fuel generator great deal

Here is the Amazon list I created to hold the parts you need to modify the hose. It also has the hour meter as someone asked for that along the way.
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/l...?ref_=wl_share

Itís a very nice generator!

I have one like it a lot. Pretty quiet. We run on propane only. The only down side is it is weight which I believe is 88 pounds. We are going to change to a lighter unit, but have liked this unit. Bought off of Amazon.

I have mitigated the weight problem by simply leaving it in my truck bed on the road. If I need to use it I drop the tailgate and slide the generator out a bit to allow the exhaust to clear the bed and air to get into the intake.

Some have reported that harbor freight makes a heavy duty hydraulic lift table that can lift it high enough to easily transfer the Champion into a truck bed. They store it on the table when not in use. Apparently Iím still strong enough at age 72 to lift it into the truck by myself at least once a trip. Itís not an issue since I donít run it on gasoline which would add a lot of weight (and stink).

DW took some convincing, but a demonstration of air conditioning in the heat and humidity in Dallas, TX area on the generator was the end of her objection to bringing it along.

Hi

The beast is indeed quite heavy. One way to make you feel better about that is to check out the 3KW Honda. The Champion is a lightweight in comparison. I don't know of any way to get to the 3.4KW point without things getting to be *uggh* in terms of lifting them.

About the only alternative is a pair of lower power units run as a combo. The total weight will still be considerable, but you only have to lift them one at a time. By the time you adapt a pair to propane and get all the hoses and cords together, you have a lot of *stuff* to manage.

If you don't need to run an A/C unit then the logic of a big generator gets a bit fuzzy. Dropping back to ~1KW gets you something way lighter / way smaller / (maybe) much quieter. It will do a fine job of topping off your batteries or other small tasks.

We love our Camp 3400 - run on 20# LP (because our 2004 Int'l 25 does not have the low pressure line ). It lives in the back of our TV all summer (at 75 and 165# it take both of us to lift it with ease into the TV ) Since we run it from the back of the TV you can't hear it 25' away (well barely ) This was one of the best buys I made for optional equipment - half the price over Honda. The tech support of Champion is FANTASTIC

I've attached pictures of my 2 regulators that get separated so you can run off the low pressure trailer fitting or a regular propane tank. If my terminology is off feel free to correct me but I'll refer to the regulators by size large and small. they both are assemble from Champion and need to be exasperated and a few (2 I think) fittings installed. Pic 1 is the small tank regulator that you only use off a tank. The larger regulator the generator needs no matter what, AS trailer port is already regulated so the small one is not needed when hooked directly to the trailer. I used a commercial/industrial hose supply store took the parts in and they did their magic, said you need this one and that one, All I needed to do was assemble with some special tape for propane natural gas. The hose off the large regulator (pic 3) goes to the generator port and doesn't need modified.I then purchased an extension hose to go from the trailer to the bed of the TV. YMMV.

Looks like the lower power 3100 that Costco sells. But good price because it's $899 at Costco.

While at the Hershey show I listened to and was amazed at the both Features and Quite operation of their new 4300 Kw unit

Key fob remote start RV plug compatible fuel gauge amp watts volts meter and a price delivered under $1400. It had sturdy tote wheels and a retractable handle plus sturdy lift handles. My wife and I could lift it into the truck bed.

Anyone want to buy two new Honda 2000 generators. PM me and ill give ya a great deal

Ditto on rmkrum, Airmiles, & cptdgl. Run propane only and did the mod per these good folks which allows us to run from AS low pressure pot as well as small portable 20# tank. Perfect for our 2019 25FB single A/C setup.
