My wife has a health issue and should not be lifting it, she could(help that is). I like this generator for all the reasons noted. I don’t like the Honda 2200 because of the cost after it’s converted to propane. Maybe ramps and drag it up? Maybe just use it on the tailgate of truck? I don’t know. Sure is a good deal. I will go back to Gander outdoors and try lifting it. Thanks
I have the same generator. I'm a decade plus older, and sometimes need help putting 95 pounds of generator into the truck. Once I get it into the bed of the truck, I position it, tie it down, and leave it there for the duration of the trip.

I added an extension hose and a set of 3/8" quick connect fittings between the high pressure (smallish one) and the low pressure (larger one) of the Champion propane adapter. There is an extensive write up on the process I used to do that. See posts 22-24 of this thread below (gad, that's forever ago) for the details of what these preceding posts and pictures are talking about. For pictures, start looking at post #182-186:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f382...175058-13.html

When I run it in the truck bed, I use the 12 foot extension hose to connect to the 3/8" low pressure port I added on my A-frame, run that to the input of the Champion low pressure regulator, and connect the shore power cord to the generator. No more lifting. I just open the tonneau cover so the generator gets enough fresh air, and the exhaust has a place to go. I do check wind direction to make sure fumes are NOT blowing my way.

Thanks Rmkrum, so I’m guessing I can put it in the truck and leave it in there and when I need to use it let the tailgate down and position it on the tailgate and use it. I have a fiberglass cab level top on the back of mine. I would make it secure so it won’t vibrate off the tailgate. Thank I’ll check out your hook up.

You are quite welcome.

I just leave mine in a corner at the rear of the truck bed, and either open the tonneau cover or just lower the tailgate to let air in there. I don't pull it out on the tailgate. Just chain and lock it down so it doesn't "grow legs" while its in use. I like the Champion because it does fit under the tonneau.

Next truck I plan to get would be a Tundra with a cab high cap. Our first Tacoma had that, and I liked it a lot better than the flat tonneau cover we have now...

Well we went ahead and bought one, 679.99. We went to Gander Outdoors store to lift one together. If our trucks tailgate was 2 foot high it would be great. We will most likely do like others and Rmkrum suggested and use it in the truck. This store didn’t have the 3400 duel fuel but had the 3500 duel fuel. The 3500’s were 1299.99. They had one 3400 gas only for 1099.99 (no remote either). This really is a great deal!

We use ours exactly this way, being careful about venting and distances from flammables. But it can stay in the truck bed--or sitting part-way on the tailgate--and run safely (propane only) this way.

I don't have an F-250, but here is my solution for a heavy generator. I have the Honda 3K.
Harbor Freight Hydraulic table. 1000# capacity. (The 500# doesn't go high enough.)
If not in the truck the generator lives on the table, just lower it down and roll it into the garage.
It rises easily and is built like a tank.
Look for a sale coupon.

I do like the table idea from Harbor Freight. That table would be handy for lot of other things to get up to a nice working height.

I can still handle the 95lbs, but help is welcome...I do a "squat" type lift up to the tailgate; watch your lower back...don't twist...Works great; I bring along an extra 20# bottle so I can hook either to AS LP port or the portable bottle.

If I were richer, I would opt for 2 of the new Honda 2200 45lb's each, with the LP modification...I only need AC few places. We usually are camping in NW Rockies in summer so no AC needed. For those trips I have 45lb Champion 2000 in the summer. I leave it at my cabin and swap with the 3500 Dual Fuel when I head back to TX end of summer....

That’s awesome! I’m gonna get one and take my liquid cooled ES6500 Honda generator camping. There’s no better generator.

This sounds like a great deal for the Champion 3400W Dual Fuel Generator. It might just get me off the generator fence, but . . .

As I was investigating the Champion, I found this generator that also has me intrigued, a Westinghouse iGen4500DF 4500W Dual Fuel Inverter Generator:
https://www.westinghouseoutdoorpower...ts/igen4500df/

It is currently $1049 at Home Depot:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Westingh...-308134845-_-N

Besides a little more power for almost the same weight, the Westinghouse has the added benefits of:
  1. A remote start FOB
  2. A digital readout of various things including power output and engine hours
  3. A battery charger
  4. The propane regulator is in the hose, possibly making it easier to connect to the low pressure port on the Airstream without modifying the generator
It appears that this model just became available. Has anyone investigated it? Does anyone have any experience with it? For the increase in output and features over the Champion, it seems like the iGen4500DF should at least be on my consideration list.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Champion 3400 dual fuel generator great deal

The Westinghouse generator has no track record. It is most likely, like a Honeywell unit of the past. These are no longer around because it was junk.

If you want a remote start, Champion makes a model with it. But, it not on this sale.

What this tread was about was sharing a deal I found. If you can find a better deal please post it. This sale won’t be around forever. Don’t wait to long.

Thanks. Yeah the lack of a track record in the Westinghouse model is concerning, though other Westinghouse models have been around for a few years. Last time I seriously looked at Champion generators, they were the new kids on the block and unproven They seem to have a good reputation now!

Just ordered the Champion 3400 Dual Fuel. The deal is still good at NewEgg as of a few minutes ago. Still free 2-day shipping. About $720 after sales tax. Can't beat it. I finally got off the generator fence!

It should also run our sump pump at home in the event of a power outage.

In case anyone has Citibank MasterCard...

Ordered mine yesterday and during the checkout process a message popped up that my MasterCard Secure feature will ask for confirmation. I followed the steps to generate a one-time passcode (texted to my phone). Entered the code and NewEgg confirmed the purchase was accepted.

Ten minutes later I get a text from Citibank Fraud asking if I made the purchase: Press 1 for Yes, 2 for No. Hit 1 for Yes. Oh, yeah your purchase was denied anyway. Called Citi to ask if the order was really declined. Yes, it was and I should place the order again.

Went back to NewEgg but the discount code was denied (because I had an open order using the code). Called NewEgg this morning and spoke to a very helpful Customer Service Person. She said I needed to wait for the order to cancel in their system later today then try again. It should allow the code again.

Got an email at 3:30 PM the order was canceled and sure enough, this time it took the code but rather than use MasterCard, I used ApplePay - order was approved and got a confirmation the generator had shipped by 5 PM! Like mom used to say “Good things come to those who wait”!

Another big thanks to BigVenture for sharing!
PS: NewEgg said the deal is good until March 23.
