I agree, but the facts don't.

The funny thing is that I agree with everyone about NOT mounting the genny to the rear bumper!!!
From aethstetics, to safety reasons.
The catch is, I have to use electric to power my coffee makers, and the battery bank is only good for an hour capacity, max.
By the way, my grand opening is scheduled for next week!!! Pics to follow.
www.aerojava.us
So the rub is; I have to connect a generator at site (No power in lot). There's no other place to mount one! The front tongue is out, because of the propane tanks. Can't store it in the TV because of the shell and tailgate, and it's too heavy to lift out when hooked up. Plus, it's NOT SAFE to store enclosed, especially when it's still hot.
Same goes for stowing inside the AS. Not safe with gasoline fumes and a furnace!!!
Last resort (too late this winter), which might happen next Spring, is a new cargo hold on the curb side, where I have the battery bank (batteries will move to the rear). Framing, plumbing, and electrical nightmare, since that's where the breaker panel and inverter control assembly was installed.
Someone suggested Litium-Ion's from a Toyota Prius. Mount where the spare tire should go (guess where that has to move to?).
The fact is, back to Square One: Where the He[[ does the genny go?!?
On the back bumper, of course!

Lots of folks run them in the back of the truck, with plenty of ventilation, of course. Mount and lock it permanently there. I'd prefer that over the bumper idea.

Ed,

Just read your Registry entry....very KOOL!!

Is the Champion the only genset your planning to use?
That's quite an AC load thru your inverters.

Bob,
It's maxed out!!
(2) 1600 watt gen's running (2) 1550 watt coffee maker(s). 10 guage wire to reduce line loss. Shared neutral, but not ganged together. There's no 85% loss factor on generators, it's a true 1600 watts, 2,000 watt surge.
Intelli-power operates only off shore power to maintain the batteries.
All cabin power off the dual batteries and 2,000 watt inverter (variable load, I can get a full day's use).
Propane for heat and hot water, etc.
So, I run entirely off battery power, except the coffee maker(s), which run off the genny's. Not a watt to spare!!!
Can't put the genny's in the TV bed, because the drive-through window is at the front left window, right by the truck. Must have the genny at right rear, away from customers.

Ed,

Have I jumped to a conclusion here....
You are not on shore power when serving on site?
And you will be using/mounting 2 gen's?
Your dilemma is becomming clearer.

Nope. Only if you have an isolated 115V circuit that isn't fed by the generators.

Yep, that's how it works. The 4 circuit breaker panel determines what gets AC power. Breaker feeding Intelli-power is off when not connected to shore (manual at this time, AC contactor/relay soon), and is switched on for recharge. Batteries, Intelli-power, and inverters are all on seperate control switches. It's a balancing act!
When on most sites, there is no AC available. Many locations will be the same; Nuclear Museum of Science & Technology, Twinkle Light parade, Luminaria Tour, Balloon Fiesta, Farmer's Market, etc.
