We converted our pair of 2,000 watt Honda generators to the GenConnex propane only conversion. All parts reside inside the existing enclosure so there is nothing to break off like some other options.
While one 2,000 watt can “run” an air conditioner, the inrush current to start the air conditioner is not available. Thus the usual need for a pair for A/C.
When we installed solar panels on our 23D, we also installed a Magnum hybrid MS3012 converter charger. It can draw the necessary power from the 300 amp-hour lithium battery to cover the inrush current of the A/C and let the single generator run the cooling. We only take one generator when we tow the 23D with my 2007 Mercedes ML320 CDI as load weight is a concern. The generator can be connected to the propane out port on the front hitch if we do not take an extra external propane tank.
We also retrofitted a front 30 amp power inlet along with an automatic transfer switch so a six foot 30 amp rated power cord makes the connection. A security cable to the trailer “A” frame can be attached to slow down the casual thief.
One needs a 30 pound propane tank to run both units at the same time from one tank. One unit can run off of a twenty pound propane tank.
