How much would a working unit in good condition be worth to an interested Airstream restorer?
The 12 volt generator, was ok, sort of.
It has a huge problem, with the air/fuel mixture.
You can adjust it to work ok, at any given altitude.
But, when you changed altitude by as little as 1000 feet, the generator would not start/run correctly, unless you readjusted the air/fuel mixture again, and again.
Well, thanks for the responces. If anyone has any skill on these I would appreciate the info. I know it's not worth putting much into but I would like to look into it anyway. The guy I bought it from said he hardly ever used it. It won't start and I have little knowledge on propane engines. If and when the budget ever changes I might look into putting a more modern generator in if it will fit.
That engine sure looks a lot like a Briggs & Stratton. I bet parts are still available for it from B&S. You would be surprised at the parts they still make for them old engines. The thing looks like it would fit in a opening for a water heater.....

The engine is a vertical shaft Tecumsa (2.5 HP I believe) as found on many small lawn-mowers. A Propane engine is the same as a Gasoline engine except for the carb system. You can do a Google search and find many Propane conversion kits for anything from your lawn-mower to your TV.
I have one of these 12V generators from my '74 Excella 500 that I no longer want. It runs fine at my "Altitude" it may require adjustments at others, I don't know, I have never used it except for trying it out in my driveway before upgrading my AS. If anyone is looking for one to restore their unit to original equipment, make a reasonable offer plus shipping, I have no idea what it is worth.
