Don't know, have not seen the two models side by each. A little slang cannuck thrown in there.
Dey probly got some add on money for the sierra clubs, use tax, tax for "free air" , tax for using storm drains etc. ey

Hi, Run the other direction from Gentron. It is a poor quality, China made product. I also had an experience where I ordered one, but cancelled almost immediately when I found out more about the products and company from another individual. They gave me the run-around for two weeks trying to get my credit for the cancelled order. During that time their post-sales telephone line was cancelled, and they never returned any calls before that. Go with a reputable name.

Everyone keeps talking Yamaha and Honda, but we're on a budget, so those are a bit out of reach. But I've found 3 options we can afford:
- a Troy-Bilt gas generator for $399 at Lowe's at 3,250-Watt / 3,500 Starting Watts Portable Generator
- a Gentron gas generator for $399 plus free shipping at Gentron 3500 watt generator PRO SERIES (electric start) - Pro 3500W
- a JD-Tek propane generator for $499 plus $70 shipping on ebay at eBay: New 3500 Watt Propane LP Generator RV Camping 120/240 (item 170124384697 end time Jul-01-07 13:53:01 PDT)
I've been trying to compare the noise level (not sure what the Troy-Bilt is, but the other two seem low at 67 dBA), the run time on one tank, the weight (all seem about equivalent on these issues). The Gentron is superior in the fact that it has a 30-amp plug, so we wouldn't need an adapter like we would with the other two to hook directly into it, but I've never heard of this brand before. Also, there's the issue of whether propane or gas is going to be more affordable in the long run, and which will be easier to deal with. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Maximum 3600 Watts, 54dB at idle, 59dB at full load, $999.99
Hi,
I just came across this listing. The specs and price look interesting.
Magna SF3300 Inverter Generator with Electric Start and Remote Start at RVToyOutlet.com
I understand the price is high re. the original post stated need. But, it would run the AC and other gadgets and be quiet and have remote elec. start for the best price I've seen lately.
It is heavy at 126 lbs. dry.

if you have not already gotten a generator. Loudoun Motorsports in Leesburg VA. Ask for Greg(the owner) Say you are a friend of Trav Schick, the course builder. He will give you a good deal. they carry honda generators and possibly yamahas.

It seems that a couple of years ago, Honda made their dealers stop posting prices on the 'net, so you'll have to call around. I have seen Honda 2000's for $899, but you have to call to get the price. Find someplace that offers free shipping, and a price match, make sure they have what you want, and call around to see if you can beat the price, then call them back with the lower price, and name of the dealer that had it.
A 2000 will not quite run your air conditioner, and is kind of overpowered for running everything else. Maybe you could look at a Honda 1000, they are even quieter than a 2000, will also run most everything on your coach, though not all at once, weighs a bit over half what a 2000 does, and uses even less gas. They can be had for well under $600.
Sooo, your choices would be to find a 3000 watt generator that will run everything, that will take two people to lift and move, for about $1800, or a smaller one that will run everything but the air, but one person can easily lift and carry, for half the cost (or less).

Hi Terry,
I stand to be corrected - my education finished over forty years ago(!) but I believe that an increase of 3 dB rather than 10 indicates a doubling of sound pressure level so that 60dB would indicate twice as loud as 57.
An increase of 10 dB is ten times the sound pressure level.
Formula is dB diff = 10*log(to base10) (L2/L1)
Apologies in advance if I'm all wet! Wouldn't be the first time!
Cheers ...... Brian.

Has anyone looked at the BOLIY Pro3600Si generator?
Also the KIPOR 3000 from China is very similar to the Honda.

Was camping here in Az, guy comes in with a big old motor home, unloads a contractor generator, sets it almost on our site, puts on a 100ft extension cord and ran it ALL weekend, hes gonna get the Forest Service to really crack down on generators I am afraid.

Having just finished two semesters of physics I can state with confidence that you are correct. 3 db increase is double the noise level and 10 db increase is 10 times louder.
