2010 Flying Cloud 20 Solar Prewiring Routing
Greetings. I plan to install a new 100w solar panel on my 2010 Flying Cloud 20. I am new to this, and keen to give it a try! Thanks for your help in advance
I have located the green and yellow wires passing through the font vent space, and I can see the green and yellow wires that come out under the bed. Where do the other end of the green and yellow wires go? are they simply tucked inside the vent space to be yanked out? I am a little scared to break anything and thought I might ask.
This is what I have in mind:
Solar panel on roof --> Yellow & Green wires (inside vent) --> Regulator (under bed) --> 10A fuse --> (+) (-) terminals
Attached photo is what it looks like under the front bed, the yellow and green wires are not connected to anything. I plan to connect them to the solar regulator.
Looks like I need to drill a hole on the roof to rout through the wires from the solar panel?

I think this post is close to what I am after: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f448...d-29469-2.html I simply want to know where the Yellow and Green prewires terminate, and how solar regulator is connected to the battery. Will dig some more for more info.

The factory prewire is a little too thin and expect voltage drop. I pulled new 6mm2 wires down through the wardrobe, and neatly hide the wires down along the left side of the door to underbed. With the factory prewire you'd expect to drill two holes on the roof regardless, so might as well pull new wires. If you want to use the prewire, you connect them to the + and - of your new solar regulator, for the wires that come out under the bed...

No offense but the OP is adding 100W, the 10 gauge factory installed wire is plenty big for their application. Any loss will be unnoticeable. Signed Snowy, Bachelor of Electrical Engineering.
OP you should have a peek at my thread titled "200 Watt Solar Install on 2016 Flying Cloud" it might give you some ideas. Slightly different internal configuration but the setup should be similar.
I wired my charge controller directly to the battery via fuse. This way it charges the battery regardless of the store switch.

Thanks and good call, yes factory prewire would have worked, however I am adding more than 100w on roof, and since I am drilling the roof anyways, might as well pull the thicker gauge wires.

1 x 140w, 1 x 120w to totaling 260w on roof, I got 280w portable ones on the ground, works ok for now 😁 i got a 40a mttp charge controller, what is your setup?

I made my own brackets too, and used VHB as well. Worked brilliantly.

I assume you plan to plug both the fixed solar and the portable units into the charger as that's a big beast.
Best case each setup is going to generate around 13 amps and I mean best case...
Are you planning to put the two solar array setups in parallel or series? Personally I would do parallel as you might not be able to position the trailer to maximize the roof top which would then act as a limiter to the system if they were in series. Your charger has the capacity to handle parallel of the two arrays.
Your roof top setup will have 2.2% volt drop worse case across the pre-install 10 gauge (just in case you end up using it ) I could live with that
I'm looking forward to pictures of the setup.

Both roof and ground panels feed power into the 40 amp MTTP solar charge controller. On the roof I have one flexible 120w, and one hard glass 140w, that provides plenty of power to our camping needs. The grounds portable ones are two x folded panels, each panel is 70w x 4 panels = 280w. I fitted a furion solar port for easy and quick connection.

2 vrla 120ah batteries under bed. 1 x 2000w 240v inverter. The wall solar port is a proper furion made, nice and tidy, however I had to drill hole on the nice alloy body. All lighting converted to LED. Removed the AC as we don't need it here in NZ, and replaced with a new fantastic vent, saving 45kgs! All 120vac wires, sockets, breakers converted to 240vac to code. The solar port can be purchased from Amazon. I had to get a lot of stuff from the states, paying expensive shopping. All a challenging but rewarding experience.
