Seems you should be able to cut one out of about any kind of plastic. Dave

The OEM might be available from an Airstream dealer? Look for one of the older dealers. Otherwise cut your own from a piece of 1/8" white plexiglass. I still have mine, let me know if you need a pattern.

I am looking for the aluminum frame/cap itself mines was missing at purchase. I was going to install a different unit until I just found out what was missing! The frame and lense, I just have the wires coming out of a hole along with previous mounting holes. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Curt

Beware of using 'any old plastic' there - the diffuser on my '73 was deformed and charred as that automotive bulb used there really puts out some heat with no provision for venting. If you know of a U-pick style auto salvage yard go pick out a back-up lamp lense and trim to fit, the auto plastic is made for the heating... I'm saving a LED motion detector floodlight to dissect and cram under that clamshell

Factory has them - part # 201185 - $2.93. You have to drill your own screw holes.

I just picked up one while up there a week or so ago - probably have another laying around here somewhere. PM me your address and I'll drop this one in the mail to you if you like.

Curt - the factory store has the aluminum cap also. Not sure on the price as I didn't notice. Give them a call and they will be able to ship it through the nearest Airstream dealer to you. Or get the part number and call the dealer to order it. You'll need the lens too obviously.

The missing socket you can get at an auto parts store. I got one at Advance Auto Parts. It was mounted on an L bracket - single contact if I recall correctly.

Out-of-Doors Mart has them and it is an OEM from Airstream. They don't have them on the website for some reason.

The bulb for the main door light is a 1141 which is the same as used in some of the interior lights. It draws 1.44 amps. If you use an 1156, which will fit, it will draw 2.1 amps. Which means that much more heat in a small place that can be left on for hours (I forget to turn mine off overnight) rather than seconds like a tail light which it is. This will burn the lens.
