What Type Soldering Iron

I'm ready to replace old bulb marker lights with new LED lights. I've read that several of you recommend soldering and heat shrink tubing. This will require balancing on a ladder and keeping the solder on the wire. What type of soldering iron/gun should I be looking for? Thanks!

Thumbs up Flexible...

Bob

When I did our 63 Safari I line twisted,(strip 1/2" off each wire, overlap the bare wires end to end and twist them around each other), and covered with shrink tubing. Never had a problem in 18 Seasons.
Don't think soldering is appropriate for a connection that may be better if kept flexible.

Radio Shack has a cheap 15W/30Watt selectable iron that is cheap and works just fine, you don't need anything more then 30Watts for soldering wires.
