Wanted to share a prototype of an idea I had for guards to protect water heater switches from being accidentally turned on or off.
Not intended for serious tampering with switch positions, such as inquisitive small children.
Comprised of stamped cooking pot lid cover handles attached to bathroom wall with 3M temporary Velcro type fasteners.
Found the pot covers at a resale shop; they closely matched the dimensions I measured when I first thought of this approach. Cheap no-name lids which were separated from their pots, so can’t say what brand to look for if you want to duplicate, just a lucky find.
Admittedly not very attractive but this was an exercise of function over form.
One could easily fabricate something similar from some thin, wide aluminum bar stock which would most likely be more attractive.
