(Kevin, aren't you glad I didn't string this out for days!)

I am using a ground wire going to 2 SS mounting screws just cause I like it that way.
In the pictures above, the new tail light has been put on the housing with temporary screws to show how it fits. The lens mounting screws will be going thru the new tail light mounting it.

SWEET!!! Very Nice!!!

Can I do something similar for my '72? Lighting is way down on my priority list, but it is something I want to do eventually.

Most excellent!! Thanks for sharing your progress and results. One day I'll get to this. Can you also post how the license plate light looks as well?

I just got tail lights from the same vendor, really good service and quick shipping. You pushed me over the edge on the clearance lights and I'll do it the same way.

Looks really good.

cheers,
steve

very nice job reggie. way to protect your sweet trailer with super bright LED's. can we call you 'LED reggie'? or reggie 'LED' mon?

you could have your airstream LED's hooked up to a switch at the door, and just turn those lights on for lighting in your garage

dont get too crazy, like some truckers you see on the road with rows and rows or LED's like christmas lights

Thanks much for the kind remarks. I appreciate them.
Well I guess I need to admit to the old vintage round rights I have added to the interior. LED of course!
For flyfshr
Another picture of the license plate light. I'll get another picture with the external housing on it. I am debating on sealing the chrome housing with a small bead of black silicone run up against the old rubber base.

The tail light project would have been closer to a simple project if the new light did not have the plastic wiring stub sticking out the back so far. Having to cut a hole in the center of the base metal housing and AS skin pushed it out of the simple range BUT I still consider it very much worth the extra work.
I also felt that the total cost of the LED's was reasonable.

Steve
When you trim the mounting ear off the clearance light be sure to trim only to the end of the mounting tab. That way you do not break into the sealed case. Thats one of the features I liked about these units, being sealed & potted (all except the license plate light and I sprayed it with a coating to protect it.
BTW These units are made in the USA

Another thought on the tail light mounting.
I just held the new tail light assy and put the lens on with the other hand & then put in the screws. It lined up well enough to be only a mild juggling act.
You could actually glue the new tail light unit into the lens to where it is one unit. That way it would be easier to take on & off

This is for FLYFSHR.
Here are pictures of the license plate light assy. I am going to tweek the LED block some to see if I can direct more light to the plate. I am not very happy with how much light is on the plate. The rubber base turned out good & thats what these pictures show.

I've got mine on now too. Still got my Bargman 9's and might try to do something with them as LED's later but they'll need a lot of work.

Thanks for pushing me into doing the marker lights, Reg!

cheers,
steve

Looking good Reg. Thanks for posting. How much light is thrown on the plate currently and how do you plan on making it brighter?

Looks like you need to get those Olympic rivets shaved on your marker lights.
