Many thanks for all the responses. I have made up a connector for my lights now.

I got a female receptacle (like the one on my truck). I also got an inline blade fuse holder (12 gauge wire). I connected the wires to the correct locations, brought the fuse holder out the back of the connnector, put in a fuse and plugged it in. Works great with a little tweaking of contacts.
