switching marker lights
Is there a way to turn on your marker lights, independant of being hooked up to your tow vehicle (for both testing and because they look kinda cool)?

If you have the 12 volt service functioning you can use a jumper wire in the 7-pin connector. I use a turn signal flasher in mine sometimes to make them blink.

I am assuming you just connect the 12v pin and marker light pin with a wire?

I recommend you go to an auto parts store or Walmart and buy a fuse link with fuse installed. You can then use it to jump the hot 12 v and marker lights female pin on the 7 pin connector. Looking at the standard (there are various setups check yours) its the 12 and 10 o'clock connector on your trailer 7 pin connector. You must be plugged in to 120v and your battery and converter must be on.

I ran a wire from 12v source to a fuse, then to the center pole of a single pole double throw switch ( switch has center off either side on positions.) One side goes through a flasher then to a splice with the wire from the other side of the switch, then to the connection with the running lights. Both ends were connected at the internal end of the 7 pin connector and the switch was mounted on the shelf at the front window. Switch is marked Flash Off Steady. Not only does it look neat, if you have to leave the trailer on the side of the road ( shudder ) at night it will be well lit, at least as long as the battery holds out.....Phil.

I have installed a switch inside the trailer for the purpose. It's sometimes useful to turn on the marker lights to help people who don't know where we parked find the trailer.

I put it next to the fuse panel under the gaucho. On my trailer that's where the 7-way wiring terminates, so it took minimal wiring to make it work.

If you install LED marker lights (and post #122 following), you can run them at reduced brightness with one additional interior switch. You can set your lights up so you run only the front markers as party lights, if you like, or any combination of front, rear, and tail.
At 25 milliamps for all five front markers, you could leave them on for a whole rally and not worry about the battery. This is a reduction of current of about 1/160th from the original markers.

Snedwid try this link. I ordered two from them figuring someone at a campground would want to buy one...they did. RV Glow - Turn your outside camper lights into patio lights.

I just use a 5 amp fuse, ($1.50) into those two terminals.
For convenience, I soldered a piece of 14 ga. wire on each terminal of the fuse to facilitate installation.

It requires no wiring or creativity at all...to simply plug an ordinary fuse into the 7-way umbilical connector between the 12+ and the running lights pin. Use a small one like 3 or 5 amps max.
