Smile Step Light Bulb Replacement

The bulb appears to be burned out - so I took out the two screws - Do I have to urge the fixture out to get to the bulb? Thanks for your response

Not sure what you mean by "step light". Is that the light over the entry door? Please Alumin8. Sorry, I couldn't help the pun.

You should be able to simply push the bulb in slightly, rotate a quarter turn and pull out. It's a simple, sprung bayonet receptacle. However, the newer ones may be different from the older models. And if that's the case, I don't know what I'm talking about!

Hi, look at the light assembly again; I believe that the screws hold the fixture in place [won't help in changing bulb] and that the lense pops off to change the bulb. I haven't done mine yet, but I was thinking about it.

yes, leave the screws alone. the lens pops out. i think the tabs are at 12 and 6 o'clock positions. use of too bright a bulb will melt the lens. use the proper bulb. it is a tight fit.

step bulb

I too did the same. I started to remove the fixture to get at the bulb. Halfway through it occurred to me that the lens lifts off and removal of the fixture is entirely unnecessary.

Cheers
