Source for '74-'78 Tail Lights
The rectangular stop/turn/tail/reverse lights on my '78 were in very poor shape. The plastic was dull, crazed and cracked and broken in several places, especially where the screws hold them in. I found a replacement source. There's a Grote RV tail light assembly that is the exact duplicate in terms of lenses and cans to hold the lights. Obviously, the frame is unique to Airstream, but you can salvage the remaining parts. They unfortunately do not include gaskets. I had to make those myself from a gasket kit, but it turned out very nicely. I'll post some pics below of the setup. The part # for the Grote kit is: 51102. It contains all three lenses, cans, and lamps that we'd need for about $20 per side. You even can re-use the screws that come with the kit if yours are rusty like mine were! While you're in there, make sure the fiber-optic connects are pushed on all the way so you can see that the bulbs are lit in the tattle-tale indicator on the side of the trailer.
