Solardome light socket repair

One of the six light sockets has a loose black wire. The socket is riveted to fixture. Any way to replace wire to socket? Not too good with soldering. Does the spring mechanism come out so you can reach the back of the connector?
Had to order new 4-way switch. Instead of soldering the wires is there a way to crimp them to the switch?
Thanks. Jack

There is always a way to attach the wire even crimping it. A picture would help. Can you post one?

Skamper I'm not sure exactly what you're working with, but the bayonet mount sockets typically used for tail and turn bulbs etc have replaceable centers. You can pull out the plastic center part with the contact in it, and replace the plastic part, the contact, the spring, and the 6" of wire with a new one from your local NAPA or whatever for around $3.

Then you can solder+shrinkwrap or use a crimp connector to attach the 6" pigtail to your existing wiring.

The pictures I have are blurry, but will send some later. Jammer, that is exactly the socket. "Searched" for bayonet forum. Will get to NAPA today and purchase several. The 32yo wiring in the lights seem to need some attention. Probably would have been cheaper to replace with LEDs, but have chosen this path for now. Thanks. Jack
